Good question. I think a part of it is that I enjoy a very high percentage of the movies I watch, because if they don't interest me at all I don't watch them. I kinda slowed down on the classics and I can't really think of any that I didn't like. I guess maybe Lawrence of Arabia.. It wasn't bad but it was incredibly boring to me. A well reviewed movie from last year that I didn't like at all was Carol. I didn't enjoy that one on any level.

I guess I also usually agree with critics and maybe it is my love for the genres blinding me, but I legitimately don't think BvS or Warcraft are anywhere near as bad as their RT ratings would suggest. I do admit I came out way too hot for BvS, I was trying to counteract all the negative reviews calling it complete garbage. I think Warcraft is better than BvS.
I have a system with RT. If a movie of a genre I generally like gets a 30-50 percent I actually read the reviews because tons of the negative ones are stuff like "Well done..superb acting but nothing new or groundbreaking"
Then I'll check the user ratings. If a movie gets 50 percent of critics and 80 percent or so of users I know there is a good chance I will like it.

A movie can get plenty of overall positive reviews where the critic just doesn't quite like it enough to give it a good rating and it skews the numbers.

If it gets 9 percent and 20 percent user reviews I don't generally watch it.

I'll just say that John Goodman was really good in it, almost Oscar worthy if it wasn't that type of movie.
He was great. Heavier than I thought he was lately but he was just about perfect. I can't think of anyone who would have been better.

I recently watched and enjoyed Bone Tomahawk. It is a new western with Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, and Richard Jenkins.

Here's the storyline from imdb.com:
After an outlaw unknowingly leads a band of cannibalistic Troglodytes into the peaceful western town of Bright Hope, the monsters kidnap several settlers, including the wife of a local rancher. Despite his injured leg the rancher joins a small rescue party with the sheriff, his aging deputy and a strong-willed gunslinger. What follows is a journey into hell on earth as the posse comes to realize it is up against a foe whose savagery knows no bounds. The film takes place in the mid 1800's around the border of what is now Texas and New Mexico.

There is a good "Western" on Netflix called Dark Valley, but this Western plays out in Austria. I'd recommend it.

Spotlight. ....super fuck boring but super fuck good.

I really don't know how else to explain it.

A Korean film called The Wailing was interesting. I don't think I got it entirely, but it was enjoyable during its 2.5 hour runtime.

I just watched Spotlight and it was a really well done movie. Ruffalo is a great actor

Finally watched the hateful eight.

I liked it. Samuel l jackson is always great.

There wa a couple points in that movie I was laughing so hard my friend punched me in the ribs. The theater crowd thought I was unhinged. My humor is a little demented to say the least.

See at the Hollywood? I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Django was better.

But you should have road tripped it into Portland and seen the H8 Road Show edition. Epic!

Yeah. A friend of mine went to it and said it was great. I like Quentin Tarantino. He's a genius for sure.

Haven't barely watched a movie since we went to Costco last weekend and Game of Thrones complete seasons were 24.99 on bluray. Bought season one because why not. Almost done with season 2, also Costco bought. Can't wait for 3 because I bought the steelbook versions of 3 and 4 because they have Dolby Atmos tracks. They were 35 on Amazon.

Having cut satellite a year and a half ago I feel good buying stuff like this, still cheaper overall.
