Politics Multiple sources confirm AOC owns a Tesla, parked it illegally in front of the Whole Foods

I really dislike term limits.

And truly I do not mean this as a Tump take, but as an example: You need career politicians and civil servants, just like you need career lawyers and doctors and auto mechanics. Having a guy like Trump, who knew nothing about how government works, was disastrous. Lethal actually. Like or dislike Biden, at least he knows how to pull the reins of government. That's because he's been in it his whole adult life.

I need to have emergency surgery on my heart. Who do I want to do it?

The guy who has been doing it for 30 years and has mastered it, or the guy who just got out of grad school and has only done one?

Damn I didn’t know we had so many people in favor of 30 year politicians. It’s a little sad.

None of the founders were career politicians when they helped create this country.

I would rather have someone in office who is there to create change rather than worry about getting elected.

With publicly funded elections and competitive pay there will not as likely be 30 year politicians unless they are good. If they are good I'm fine with 30 year politicians. If they aren't good they'll lose to better candidates.

You'll actually have competition.

Term limits is the only way you can ensure that, because people will always re-elect a guy who has been there a long time. It takes so long for a new congressman/woman to work their way up the chain. So you don't want to vote someone out that has been there a while and have to start over fresh with a new person.

Most of the founders thought women were less than men, and that blacks were property. Not sure that's such a good argument to make.

It's hilarious that the lizard brains are so frightened of AOC.

I’m not frightened of her. But she is an idiot. And socialism doesn’t work. That has been proven over and over throughout history.

And yet.... they put together a foundation that still stands today :dunno:

My point was that normal, every day people came together and built this country from nothing. I don't know what your point has to do with that.

Term limits are also how you ensure good ones are kicked out. We want good policy makers...

Show me one politician who hasn't taken money from a major corporation. They're all bought and paid for. Maybe Bernie Sanders.... that's it.

a foundation that was created on the backs of/work of slaves and later on chinese and children. My point is using them as some kind of barometer is silly in 2021.

Is she advocating for socialism? Somebody else said so, but I'm unable to find any evidence which backs that up.

"Ocasio-Cortez has likened her view of democratic socialism to Scandinavian social democracy. The congresswoman's progressive platform consists of a single-payer health care system that covers all forms of health care."

Scandinavian countries are all capitalism based economies... And very successful since basically WWII. The most happy, well educated, and healthy people on the planet, so... Not socialism. Not failed.

I want change as long as it involves doing things exactly the way the founders did them. They weren't career politicians, so we shouldn't have career politicians. They wore powdered wigs, so we should wear powdered wigs.

Seriously, the country was a lot simpler in the 1700s. We need people who know what the fuck they are doing.

It's an abdication of voter responsibility to say "well, we can't seem to make good decisions, so let's limit our choices'. But if we are going to do that, we ought to limit the choices in a way that leads to better public servants, not worse.

Well, Sen. Santorum, you might want to consider that it wasn't nothing. Those normal, everyday people came together and took the country from the natives, from the British, from the Spanish, from the Mexicans, and others. The natural resources the country gained weren't created by the founders.

Nor were the founders 'normal, everyday people'. They were largely well-educated and wealthy. They were what people today would sneeringly call 'elites'.

Cool. You guys want to keep skirting around what I'm talking about and injecting topics that are completely unrelated.

By foundation, I'm talking the Bill of Rights. The Constitution. The three branches of government. Jesus christ you guys are blowing this up to be something much more complicated. I'm talking about a bunch of citizens getting together and putting down on paper a country that still exists today. Why you guys need to inject slavery and women's rights and whatever the hell else is beyond me.

I must have missed the part in the constitution where they wrote in "all men are created equal.... except the blacks, Indians, Chinese, and whoever else isn't an old white guy."

By the time the constitution was created, most of those framers were not just "normal, everyday people", though.

Thanks to the civil war, civil rights movement and women's suffrage movement more people got to become "normal everyday people" in a way....this wasn't because of the founding fathers....they didn't want the local natives, blacks, chinese or women to vote or have equal rights.....the founding fathers were for the most part blue bloods and actually wanted to make Washington a king at one point....thanks to the unions normal everyday people got to compete in the business world since the titans like JP Morgan could not buy the competition out any more....JP Morgan Rockefeller, Carnegie...etc...only Carnegie became an advocate of sharing the wealth with the workers by building libraries, etc....

We cemented our banana republic status on January 6, 2021. The continued refusal to accept the election results only doubles down on our new status going forward……

People contested the 2016 election the entire 4 years Trump was in office. It was only after Biden won that the left started using the phrase “free and fair election” and pretending to be shocked that anyone could ever question the integrity of an election. Really just a lot of disingenuous bullshit coming from both sides.

Al Gore never stormed the Capitol over any hanging chads....Jan 6th was not your everyday political bullshit...it was THE banana republic move of my lifetime and I've been around since 54. Conservative guilt isn't going to wash this stink out of the government until there's accountability....whataboutism is what you're referencing but fair elections are not the same thing by any stretch. Biden won this one even if you believe Bush beat Gore with the hanging chad...Trump just wanted to be Putin or Kim Jong Un in the worst way and stifle his detractors. He still does.

What makes her an idiot is her frequent statements of idiocy. She’s an idiot.

Nobody that anybody on the left respects contested the 2016 election for any amount of time worth mentioning. Not even close.
