I thought he was his old man as well? Apparently time don't matter to him so he banged some chick back in time and became the father and the son? Sorry if I'm all off on this stuff. I didn't pay any attention during Bible study.
The Holy Trinity. Yeah, I actually went to a service with my grandparents because they wanted my kids to go to Sunday School. Which I was fine with. They can make their own decisions on religion. And I often helped my grandfather keep their tractors running to mow their huge lot, so we were familiar with the church.

So while they were at their first Sunday School session the wife and I were taking in the sermon about the Holy Trinity and about how understanding the Holy Trinity would help you become a more moral person and help you resist temptation, etc.

Two years later that minister was fired for having an affair with one of the flock who worked in the office part time.

The general consensus among the volunteers who kept up the lawn (mostly retired old men) was that we poor men have so much temptation from all these women throwing themselves at us that we just don't have a chance.

Good times.

I need to have emergency surgery on my heart. Who do I want to do it?

The guy who has been doing it for 30 years and has mastered it, or the guy who just got out of grad school and has only done one?
This happened to me at the VA. They gave me a new doctor to do my eye surgery and now I am blind in that eye.

Damn I didn’t know we had so many people in favor of 30 year politicians. It’s a little sad.

None of the founders were career politicians when they helped create this country.

I would rather have someone in office who is there to create change rather than worry about getting elected.
The founders were indeed career politicians. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson served their country while over in Europe before working on our Constitution.

But the Carbon Fee (actually Green House Gas) and Dividend IS the incentive for individuals. Companies don't have to pay it, they just pass cost along to the price of the end product. This encourages individual consumers to make choices which use fewer green house gasses.

The dividend is then distributed progressively to prevent the middle class and poor from being hurt financially by the transition.

The wealthy will not be impacted, other than shifting their business model to meet the increased consumer demand for more greenhouse friendly alternatives.

At any rate, it's not a perfect science. Do we need to do something? Absolutely. Is it in the form of the Green New Deal? I suppose the jury's still out.

Yeah, I don't think the GND actually does much with a Carbon fee and dividend.

The carbon fee and dividend would be the #1 best way to get things done, but there just isn't enough support because our politicians are bought and paid for by corporations who do not want to change.

I don't have any idea about the person you've linked us to.
I'm going to have to say that the green new deal sounds like a good deal to me although it's really a bit too late. We already see the damage that the new environment is inflicting on us.

Please, Lanny, you've never heard of John Stossel? He's been around for decades. Formerly from 20/20 fame.

I've never cared for him nor did I recognize that it was him you were referring to.

Sounds like Jesus has got a bit of an anger management issue. But if he had to make it a point to show them he was pissed, he should've went all gangster on their asses instead of just flipping some tables.

Nah, Jesus doesn't play that. He is all about turning cheeks not tables.

Ah, seeming men of God who preach to us that we must be moral and upstraight, when they are not. Living contradictions. Oh, the hypocrisy. But, hey we are all sinners right.

My mom, uncle (my mom’s brother), and I were sponsored by my dad (he’s a half redneck American) to come to America. I didn’t speak any English, so my dad thought it was a good idea to send me to Sunday School (I came during the beginning of summer so no regular school yet) to learn English. Read the Bible to study English. I guess I did pick up enough English to prepare for regular school, but man it was torture. I’d never had formal schooling prior (was home schooled by my mom), so Sunday School was especially strange for me. Learned about the Holy Trinity (as much as I could with how little I spoke/understood English at the time) and how Jesus was God, a son of God, and the Holy Spirit all in one. Was just weird nonsensical shit to me. Luckily I only went to Sunday School for a year and was off to spend every Sunday after at the gym with my uncle.

So you're a quarter American redneck

I'm just waiting until I get old enough to have women throwing themselves at me like these guys. I hope it's not a generational thing...

How much of that is liquid wealth? Just because he owns a bunch of Amazon stock doesn't mean he has $188 billion. People seem to have a weak understanding of the stock market. You can't tax stock value unless he cashes it out.

I really dislike term limits.

I do not like the all or nothing approach. Term limits make sense and should be implemented, but they should be done in such a way that people have enough time to get good at their job.

So, 2-3 terms for the senate for example and 5 terms for congress or a combined term of 20-25 years for both is a good place to start if you ask me. It allows the good people to get good at their job - but it also allows more fresh blood and good ideas to come through. Same idea, btw, should be applied to judges.

We need term limits otherwise you get guys like McConnell in the Senate for 50 years. There at Senators who have been in office since before I was born whose ways are outdated.

The senate and congress need to be intermittently refreshed with new blood

Fuck term limits. If you want someone gone then run a better candidate against them.

If people want to be represented by a dipshit then let them.

Term limits, jerrymandering, and voter restrictions only helps those who want to limit the rights of Americans.

Why not fix jerrymandering and voter restrictions first, then we'll see if term limits is necessary.

It should be harder to run for office than to get a drivers license....we need to vet government officials better. To me people should have some basic knowledge before they run for office...dipshit's running is an ongoing problem...fuck the dipshit vote....get qualified representatives who understand the constitution etc.....we've seen what happens when braindead people are given that much power. It never ends well.

Given the costs of campaigns this idea is dead in the water. Until you fix that - you are going to be limited to a very select group of candidates and the established players get an unfair advantage.

If there are term limits for the presidency - there should be for congress and the judicial arm.

I believe Mitch and Lindsey were outspent this last election.

Again, there are other problems that need fixing first. Fix those first.

So what you are saying is that even spending more is not enough against the sitting candidates - because their unfair advantage is so large.

This is exactly the argument for term limits...

Yes.... because wouldn't you just love 20 more years of Kate Brown?

I'm saying if those states want dipshits like Mitch and Lindsey that's on them.

But more importantly, lets make voting registration and voting easier. Making voting more accessible but be the easiest way to get rid of dipshits.

All for easier votes, but concentration of power is a real problem. Frankly, term limits are a cheap solution for that problem.

Why should governor be any different than congress or senate?

Don't know, don't really care.

I just know that we have vote by mail and do a very good job of running it.

Look at the history of ballot measures in this state. The outcomes show that we're not as liberal as many think we are. Ballot measures do a great job of getting people to think outside of their political party leanings. It also shows that a quality republican candidate can win.

If the dems run a former or current Portland mayor or head of Metro for governor I'm not sure they would win. And early polls looks like that is exactly what the dems are going to do.
