  • The Troggs - Wild Thing

Come on, we knew how to get down in my day.

    Hot Tuna - Water Song

I don't have anybody to dedicate this too. But I've been jamming to this album for the past week.

This song came out when I was in the Army in Basic Training. Never could figure out what it meant, just knew it was sad.
Fortunately, I got side tracked with learning what the purpose of the bayonet was and still is and didn't have time to get gloomy.

"I'm saving my bass player for Kansas City." - Janis Joplin

Single greatest quote in rock n' roll history. What a woman!

My favorite Janis Joplis song: Mercedes Benz

My favorite song of hers is the one that I posted, just by coincidence. At 54 I wasn't old enough to catch any of these old artists in concert but I sure listened to plenty of their music on the radio back in the day.

I love Millie Jackson. But her audience sometimes pigeon holes her as a tough bad mamma who specializes in talking shit. She is much more than that. One of the best popular musical interpreters of the 70's. Her version of Bobby Goldsboro's (yeah that Bobby Goldsboro) tale of underage illicit love is proof of that. The good ol' Swampers play behind her like they feel the heat too. Caught Up still stands as one of the best records of that era or any for that matter. Albums like that are the reason why Spotify was created.

Birdcall Morning is the great lost song of the 70's. No wonder Joe Walsh doesn't release more songs like this. All people just want is a hell raiser.

Grand Funk Railroad - We're an American Band

Ten Years After - I'd Love to Change the World

Saw Richard Thompson a couple of days ago at Revolution Hall downtown. Still one of the greatest musicians in the world at 69. I don't know how he does it.
