These ladies do such a lovely meshup of arabic music, hip/hop and electronic music.
 
I work from home and generally enjoy unobtrusive music playing in the background while I work. This song is playing right now. Man, luvs me some GWJ's (R.I.P.) music. Always have He was an early pioneer, and, perhaps, even the proverbial godfather of the smooth jazz genre.

Winelight was one of those early renderings. One (as well as Mister Magic, also posted here) that actually drew me to jazz, itself. The sound quality isn't so good here, but I wanted to post something live of him



 
I always appreciated Wayman Tisdale (R.I.P.) as an NBA basketball player. He was also a polished jazz (lead) bass guitar player.

 
Every time I hear this version of Somewhere....it brings glistening to my eyes. Eva died way too young.

Oh shit!...that takes me back. I was a disco dj in the late 70s...had to play the Lipps Inc. version of that song 2-3 times a night....I shit you not.

Not sure what was worse, the music during that horrible period, or the clothes and shoes we wore.....ughhh.

Oh hell yeah...polyester double knit shirts and suits were the thing back then...can't count the time's a falling red hot pot seed ruined a shirt of mine.

...which reminds me, I had one of those "day-glo" posters of a huge rat with glazed eyes smoking a joint with a caption that said, "Kenya gimme a Tokyo hash?"




...ahhh....good times.
 
I have never been a big fan of this song until I heard Ani DiFranco's live version. She puts the amazing in Amazing Grace.

 


Big Nick Cave fan - and this rendition with the witches is excellent.
 
Here is a collaboration with one of my favorite guitarists and rock singer. Slash and Chris Cornell. RIP Chris. You are missed but we are fortunate to have your music in our lives.
