That was a pleasant surprise. I liked the first album from Soul Position (Blueprint + RJD2), but never got into his solo stuff. Or the 2nd album for that matter. Is this off his upcoming release? I might have to pick it up when I grab the new Atmos album.

Seems like I'm permanently uncool and behind the times. I'm a bit like Ed Norton in Italian Job musically...can't figure out where to look on my own for cool stuff, just steal what I like from others.

Today I just bought B.o.B- Magic, Jay Sean, a bunch of D12 (didn't even know they existed, but I love it!), Lupe Fiasco and some assorted random "are you buying that for your daughter?" stuff. That "he's peculiar" song is pretty catchy...and I guess if I look like less of a child molester listening to that than my Biggie/Miley Cyrus mix ("Party (and Bull$hit) in the USA")...

Honestly, I think the worst part of music is the idea of "cool" or "hip." It creates the most idiotic arguments since everyone has their own aesthetic.

At one point in my life I was somewhat judgmental about the musical tastes of others, but I've ditched that. All that matters is what you enjoy. And, honestly, with the advent of the Internet...stealing ideas for who to try is just smart. There's such a wealth of information, tips and ability to listen before you buy. The concept of making your own discoveries is nice but a bit outdated. It's nice when it happens and if you enjoy frequenting indie clubs in Seattle, that's great...but if not, this is the era to discover stuff from the recommendations of others.
