My wife watched American Idol, and this kid was singing Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper, however it had this cool arrangement. He later said he flat out stole it from a band he likes called Quietdrive. I downloaded a few of their cd's, and really like them

I've heard it on the radio here in Beautiful Central Oregon.

ZZ Ward. She's from Roseburg and about to blow up. She's touring with Allen Stone (I posted a few of his vids in here) and she absolutely killed it when they played in SD. Right now she just has a free mixtape out, but I think she's putting out a proper album in the summer.

2 really good hip hop albums dropped last month. El-P's Cancer for Cure and Killer Mike's R.A.P. Music (produced by El-P). Both are incredible (8.5 and 8.6 on pitchfork).

Yeah, that's the Yonkers beat. But's its from a free mixtape, so it's par for the course. When she performed it live the song (and set) started with that beat and I wanted to hate it. But she had a full band as well so the Yonker's beat was just a layer for the whole sound. Anyway, if that is the issue here is another song of hers. I think this is on her official EP and was used in some promo for an ABC Family show. Still might not be your cup of tea, but worth another look. I think she's playing at the zoo in July.
