You hit the nail squarely on the head on so many of your points. We SHOULD just ignore the guy. But some of us see too many of his actions as seriously damaging to what we consider "democracy". And they are still encroaching. So it's very difficult to just "ignore". And too many politicians are following his example. He gave America permission to rip off the already very thin veneer of civility and respect for others. He made it permissible to be an insufferable boor if we so choose. Hey, it's our "right". But is that really the most effective way to move forward in an already severely divided country? Where are the fucking adults in this country?? The infoworld is already pretty much one big lie. Do we want another narcissist cluttering up the already fucked up airstream? I don't participate in or follow ANY social media platform (other than SC2), yet the clown is still inescapable. I personally don't want him (or his sick bullshit) in my face anymore than he/it already is. It's just the rules of the platform, protected by the 1st Ammendment. The same reason certain sites can ban anybody is the same reason they can allow anybody.

True, but that's going to happen on TRUTH or whatever they can find. It happens now in private Facebook, Instagram, telagram, signal, and Discord groups...

Restrictions aren't the answer to this problem. Education is the answer.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Musk open sourcing the algorithm, and making all moderation actions public. As well as reducing the platforms reliance on advertising.

I think we'll learn a lot from this experiment, and I think it will end up being a good thing.

I think the worst case scenario is Twitter trending heavily right wing, at which point it will lose all public trust and go the way of MySpace.
