Free healthcare? How upsetting.

I would say the real monolithic entity is the collaboration of establishment Democrats and Republicans who engage in just enough fake fighting to ensure gridlock. As long as they can point the finger at each other, nothing will continue to get done which is precisely the point.

America has been been under the thumb of the Deep State's Uniparty since they killed Kennedy. It's why when Congress meets it looks like a 60th High School Reunion.

It's also why everyone and everything they control went batshit crazy when they realized he was going to be elected and are still focused on taking him down even though he's out of office for another 2 and 1/2 years.

AOC Says She Got Killed From Elon Buying Twitter And Is Now Dead

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was brutally murdered this week as a result of Elon Musk buying Twitter, says AOC. Twitter accepted Musk's offer to buy Twitter on April 25th, which AOC says makes them an accessory to her murder.

"I have never been more dead than I am right now," said AOC while attending a disinformation fundraiser. "A privileged white man violently assaulted me by legally buying Twitter and defending free speech! He literally cut off my head and now I am dead!"

An official complaint was filed with the U.S. Secret Service which subsequently reached out to Elon Musk for questioning. Musk has reportedly denied any involvement in AOC's death and claims the congresswoman is not dead at all.

"She's right over there," Musk allegedly told authorities. "Just turn your head."

AOC has claimed Musk's words are disinformation of the worst sort and have caused her to experience a second death.

"That makes him double guilty!" she wept.

According to sources, Elon Musk was taken to Guantanamo Bay for further questioning "off the books" but then he bought the facility and had himself released.

As somebody who uses Twitter for breaking sports news….. music and movie updates and trying to get my daughter into college, can somebody give me a reader’s digest version of why this is such a big deal?

It's a big deal because the the right wing is very happy.

It's not logical. Nobody knows what Elon is going to do. But if he does do what the right thinks... twitter will turn into a steaming pile and die.

I don't get it either and to this day Ive never been on Twitter or FB.

When the My Pillow guy goes on Twitter and spews nonsense and lies, he get suspended or banned. When Trump would go on and do the same, banned. Twitter regulates - not even remotely close to just banning people with opposing views- but tweets that are hurtful, damaging, harassing, misinformation- and still can’t even come close to catching it all of course. But if a poster consistently does it he’s done. With Musk, and his incessant “free speech” obsession, and history of being a little …forgiving….of the right, and I think many expect him to open things up more than currently. The right is really happy with Musk all of a sudden (another billionaire who laughs at Magats, but I digress) mostly because they know they can get away with more shit under the free speech excuse.

There is no big deal dude. Continue to use Twitter for whatever you use it for, ignore the hysteria, and you will never notice any difference. It’s just the latest thing for people to scream at each other about.

Pretty much this.

Pretty much this.
It doesn’t effect the individual. Not really. But if anyone has paid any attention to the country the last six years I think it’s safe to say that the hate and misinformation and conspiracies etc have had quite a negative impact. So the whole “just use Twitter who cares” is, predictably, short sighted.

Twitter just banned the pillow guy today for trying to bypass his prior ban or something...

Again, nobody knows what changes will happen. It's all just hysterics right now.

Twitter was mostly owned by 8 people who didn't use Twitter. Now it'll be mostly owned by one person who does use it.

I doubt there will be much of a change other than the edit button and probably some more options to ignore certain content at a personal level.

Symbols are a funny thing. They don't have to be scary in and of themselves for their adherents to do terrible things in their name. By all accounts Jesus was a pretty chill guy.

Wars will be fought in the name of Elon for a thousand years. Crusades. Believers will be saved and infidels will burn for eternity.

Hard to understand why he would pay $44B for something so ‘meh who cares I just want an edit button’. There’s so much more to it. I don’t get acting like he just bought the Sacramento Bee. It’s Twitter.

You don’t know why a tech billionaire would try to acquire a tech company? Its really that hard to understand? It’s really just a giant conspiracy to inject racism and hate speech into the public discourse?

Uh no I do know why. I was reasoning to Phats - ‘everything will probably stay the same but an edit button’. I literally said there’s so much more to it. I don’t think it’s a giant conspiracy. The opposite. It’s a blatant attempt to do so.

If even one person gets punched because some wack-job thinks Elon gave them the right to punch people, it's too much.

Aren't there people out there claiming its OK to punch people who they've determined to be "Nazis"?

Also, anyone who thinks Elon can give anybody any rights at all is going to do stupid things regardless of whatever idiotic reason they adopt. I don't blame an idiot's claimed or perceived motivation for their idiocy; I blame the idiot.

Because the long time CEO, and his good friend, told him it needed to be privately owned rather than publicly owned.

From what I've been able to gather, he believes the board was the problem keeping Twitter from reaching its potential. Making it too slow to adapt. Largely because Dorsey told him so.

$44 billion for Musk is like most people buying a used pickup truck.

It's a decent amount of money, but it's not going to break him. And it could turn into a good investment if he plays his cards right.

But he's not going to put his own freedom on the line for it. And removing all pretections on Twitter would do that. It would likely also crater his investment by running off the people who actually make content.

Musk isn't the richest man in the world because he makes things unpopular. I don't think he wants to make Twitter less popular.

And he really doesn't have a lot of spare time to spend on sweeping changes.

I posted nearly the same premise before reading your comment. My bad.

I rarely use Twitter, sometimes for live or breaking news, if I'm looking for a specific persons take on a topic, Wojbombs of course, my favorite sports teams, and my friends I guess.

All this to say, I just tried to log on and I can't access on my Pixel 6pro. Updated the app, force quit, nothing. The browser works but I'm curious if anyone else is having this problem..
