K, final stat line for Olynyk's perfect night:

26pts, 10rebs, 5asts, and 0 TO's (just for you Charcoal ;) 9-9 from the field, 8-8 from the line.

Perfect game. 26pts on 9 shots? Things of legend. Brandon Davies is no chopped liver either.

He needs to stay his final year at Gonzaga. Otherwise his credibility in the draft will put him in the second round. He needs to gain some muscle, gain mass, and generally improve his low post game. At least he doesn't shoot like the Stache from a distance. The Stache was a bust and he failed again on his second attempt in the NBA.

Maybe up his 3 pt % and work on the ticky tack fouls

I see more, but I see weaknesses in guys slotted above him. Draftexpress now has him at 20, but McAdoo at 17. With Kelly I see some.things I like but am still waiting to see what the fuss was about with McAdoo.

Nate Dogg, staying another year would not be a good idea.

What are the more?

With McAdoo its the potential. The guys got good size and plays like a hybrid 4. I like his potential too.

Olynyk's stock will continue to rise. He'll be a top 10 pick.

I do not see.him being a good rebounder at the next level and defense will take some time.

Defense, meh, pretty much all 4's in the NBA suck at defense and I woudn't call Olynyk's D that bad really. Good rebounder, meh. About 7 in 25 minutes of play. I'd say PER 36 thats 8.5 or 9 rebounds a game.

Not show a lot of moves scoring? That one is pure blashphemy. Almost comedic. You just havent watching him play enough.

What about his play makes you think he's a PF in the NBA? Maybe compare to current players?

Even if his skill set would be slightly better at PF, he'd be a center in the NBA. His size alone all but guarantees it.

And in today's NBA, where front court pairs are getting smaller and smaller, I think there's only a tiny chance he plays PF in the NBA.

What about his game makes you think he can't play PF? Have you even watched him play?

Yes, I have. But I'm asking for your expert opinion, care to answer?

Edit: Also, I never said I think he can't play power forward.

If you can't answer the question just say so, don't pussyfoot around it.

I don't really think the question is valid and needs to be answered seriously. Anybody who's seen him play knows his game translates well to the 4 position.

So far I'm very impressed. Looking at his stats his first two years he looked destined for the D-League. This year is night and day. His PER is ridiculous.

* 37.4 PER
* 72 TS%
* 19 PPG in 27 MPG

Athletically he's pretty average. In this area, Dirk he is not. IMO his mobility/foot speed is more Andrew Nicholson. Nice prospect though.

Clearly that's not the case. I've seen him play. I'm not sure he's a sure-fire NBA PF, in the "must draft!!!" debate.

Gonzaga usf game just starting right now channel 34 ROOT

This is my first time watching Olynyk.

He's an above average athlete.

Someone reminds me of a Laker Barney. They haven't done shit, but they think they are special because they watch someone that can play a game. And they just can't stop beating their chest about it.

Go Blazers

5-12 shooting and 13/8 against the San Francisco Dons and he only played 22 minutes because he was being abused on defense.

Only 3 FT attempts. I'm not saying the guy won't be an NBA player, I just don't see the "must draft!!!" about him.

He only had one foul. Why does he only play 25 mpg? I don't get it. It's his 4th year out of HS, he obviously has some skill, yet he sits on the bench a lot.

Is Mark Few an idiot for not playing him more than he does?

Color me impressed. He has fast hands and a good touch. Nice positioning on D although laterally seems a bit slow, no surprise for a big guy. Mind you, he is not slow, in fact he has short bursts of speed and uses those bursts judiciously. He can take contact and continue which is good.

He does not remind me at all of dirk, but he does appear to be a legit NBA prospect who could have a high ceiling. I suspect he will be a C, not a PF in the nba as he does not seem athletically gifted like NBA forwards, but seems to have overall size, strength and adequate athleticism to play C.

I'll watch him again, always with an open mind.

If you think he got abused defensively I think you actually need to watch the game next time instead of reading a box score and making your expert analysis. Oh yeah, he was 5/12 from the field. Congratulations the first time he's shot under 50% from the field all year. Where were you during his perfect game on Thursday, chief?

He played light minutes tonight because it was a beatdown from the get go. He could get more minutes but the Zags are STACKED with frontcourt players. Dower, Harris and the Polish kid are all stud big men. Its a good balance. I'm not complaining about his minutes and I'm not sure you'l not find too many Zag fans that are.

Olynyk is going to continue to climb up the draft boards. Watch and don't act surprised.

Old guy, shouldn't you be playing pinochle somewhere, or something?

Fair and balanced analysis.

Former NBA guard and current University of San Fran coach Rex Walters:

“Because they have a lottery pick in Olynyk, and he didn’t play great tonight,” Walters said. “Harris is a high-level pro, Pangos is a high-level pro, but it’s really simple when you have a lottery pick you become a lot better team. And that’s what he is, I really believe that. First time I’ve said that about a West Coast Conference player.
