His quick-leap is sad (like Slavko) but his lateral movement is solid. So much like Scola in this area.

But lets take a look at his stats that has made him a late-1st into (possibly) cracking the top-10:

17.7 PPG | 7.0 RPG | 1.2 BPG
80 FT% | 66 FG% | 25 MPG
38 PER | 71 TS% | 7.4 WS (superior advanced stats than Lillard's last year at Weber State)
Ganzaga ranked #2

The craziest thing is those per game numbers are in 25 minutes. Low minutes because of an inordinate amount of blowout wins and the ability to bring in very capable players off the bench. I like the approach Few is taking with him. Keeping him fresh for a deep run in March.

I'd say I was wrong about JJ Redick. CDR if given a legit opportunity could prove me wrong also. I don't toss around "bust" all that frequently. Sorry that I don't think Kelly is NBA "make Lamarcus" expendable quality and provided you with facts and observations as well.

There are plenty of worthless seven footers out there that can shoot a "little".

Just don't see Kelly as having a spot in the "new" smaller NBA, with few exceptions. I don't see him being able to take advantage of Ibaka, like DMC can, and he doesn't have the speed or shot creating ability to take him outside.

The new "wave" of centers and power forwards make him less of an asset.

Lets assume we do draft him...

Dwight - Marc Gasol - Ibaka - Duncan - DeAndre Jordan (or Blake) - David Lee/Bogut - Javale - Jefferson are all matchups I'd say he would handily lose.

Payne is just as good of a shooter, if not better (50% 3pt, 80.8% FT), and he's a much more explosive athlete. The guy's a highlight reel waiting to happen, and although he's listed at 6'10" and Olynyk is at 7'0", I guarantee you that he has a bigger wingspan. The guy's a genetic freak in that sense. That's why he was a top 20 recruit before he really even had any game.

He's also a much better defender and rebounder than Olynyk. Now, Payne can't really put the ball on the floor, but that's not really a strong suit of Olynyk's either.

I'd try to sell you on Adreian Payne, who is considered a late first round prospect in 2014, but considering we're going on 10 pages about Kelly Olynyk, why would you take him over a much better physical prospect in Adreian Payne, who can shoot the ball just like Olynyk, is more of a defensive presence, a better rebounder, and athletically makes Olynyk look like Patton Oswald?

I've seen Olynyk for a bit after Zags fan started this thread and I wasn't very impressed, reminded me too much of Adam Morisson, although I don't see him getting picked nearly as high...
With that said, according to Realgm.com, Olynyk has the highest PER in the NCAA with more than 36!
Another interesting stat from their list is that Carter-Williams is in the top 5 in both Assists and Steals. The guy is what? 6-6? impressive...

Okay zags does bash on LMA a lot; but I remembered many times when he admits that Aldridge is actually a good player. I know it sounds a bit contradictory; but his motives are to trade Aldridge for multiple talents because Aldridge is actually that valuable.

I'm not saying he definitely couldn't be the next Larry Bird/Dirk Novitzky and the PER thing did surprise me. I've only seen him once for a few minutes before I actualy got bored and disinterested. HE does have a good perimeter skills and seems to want to improve his post up game but he's also not very strong or athletic.
He could be the next Novitzky or the next Luke Babbitt. Probably end up being somewhere in between.

I like Payne, but his offensive arsenal isn't anywhere near what Olynyk's is. Just as good of a shooter? I beg to differ. Kelly's shooting almost 10% points higher and they both shoot under 1 three a game so the 3 point % can go either way. Olynyk makes 1 or 2 more and its the same.

Rebounding wise they're about the same. Olynyk plays on a team that is #2 in the nation in FG% so he doesn't get the opportunity for offensive rebounds like Payne does.

Payne is a better defender. But, its not by leaps and bounds like people suggest. Look, I watch every second of Gonzaga basketball and Olynyk isn't as bad of a defender as posters on here want to make him out to be. This is isn't your Adam Morrison-led Gonzaga teams they are just as good at defense as they are offense. In fact they are 38th in the nation in opponent PPG.
