What does 7 rebounds in 26 minutes extrapolate out to in 36 minutes?

That he got some rebounds in a summer league game. Did you think he dominated the paint? I think he is very versatile and because of it he likes to float to the outside.

He averaged over 9 rebounds in 36 minutes in college. Which isn't horrible. Especially when there's this notion floating around that he can't rebound and is soft.

He was very active inside all game long, playing defense, trying to own the paint. He is no stiff. He bends all over the man he guards and stays in front of him, as the man seeks an opening to shoot anywhere inside of 12 feet and finds no escape from Kelly. The effort is there. The coaches will improve his technique. We should have drafted him.

6 fouls in 26 minutes of summer league. It will be interesting seeing how actual NBA players attack him.

Its just summer league. I'm more looking to see how he responds against NBA, starting caliber, PFs and centers. Same with every other player in summer league. Just gotta wait to see what they show in the big boy leagues, when defenses are actually set and shit.

Had himself a nice game offensively, though.

Nicholson who had himself a good rookie year was his matchup most of the game and Olynyk abused him. He's a Canadian, they're tough. Brad Stevens who was at the game was quoted as saying that he did good things defensively. The defense thing is overblown with him anyway. I watched him every second in college and he always tried hard and was an above average defender.

Everybody's savior Andre Drummond had 6 fouls in 25 minutes, Patrick Beverly a solid backup PG had 7 fouls today in 26 minutes, Nicholson had 7, O'Quinn had 6, Jeremy Lamb had 6 today, its what happens in SL. A couple of those calls were bogus anyways. Sounds like picking nits.

The more you post in general, the more I think SlyPokerDog is a self-indulgent douche who can't ring his own bell enough, apparently.

Always calling people names. Look in the mirror.

Phil Pressey is a point guard, and thus prone to a miserable time in summer league competition.

He needs chemistry, teammates willing to play together, to thrive. Thankfully for Pressey, Kelly Olynyk has a clue.

“This guy back here, he thinks like a guard, and that makes it a lot easier on me,” Pressey, the Celtics free agent via Missouri, said with a nod in Olynyk’s direction yesterday following a 95-88 loss to the Magic on the first day of the Orlando summer league.

Phil Pressey giving out props.

Nope. Not always. Just you and MZ. Just call it how I see it "KingSpeed". Better?

You clearly post stuff just to "troll" people and can, on occasion, post things that are nothing but absurd, mind-numbing, drivel. I really don't have an issue with you, or some stuff you post about 50% of the time; however, the other 50% seems to be a little thoughtless and purely based on the aforementioned issues I talked on earlier. It can almost seem like you're two different people with each of the spectrum you swing from. Massive, drama seeking troll - to a enthusiastic fan that looks to expand his knowledge.

As far as MZ, that guy sunshine pumps himself, entirely way too much. "You can thank me, I'll give you lessons on how to see talent, look at me I can see talent, etc." He is pretty damn self-absorbed and posts some pretty ridiculous stuff as well that is clearly for the purpose of stirring the pot. He does occasionally provide some good insight but his delivery is lacking. Attempting to dispute what he says is pretty comical as well.

I want to root for Olynyk... he seems like a likeable guy, but this thread's making that harder and harder.

EVERYONE ELSE IS STUPID AND I AM AWESOME DO YOU HAVE A MINUTE LET ME PROVE IT TO YOU WITH WORDS

i would have like the clinic, just not over CJ

he looks good

The blatant hate of all thing Olynyk is what gave this thread wings. I should compile a post full of vitriolic posts by peeps about my dude Olynyk.

I'm not sure it is Olynyk. If you started a thread about how Zellar or Plumlee were going to be better than Lynyrd, you would get the same reaction.

Sam Mitchell on NBATV -

(paraphrasing)

"In a few years, this guy's going be a very good NBA player. He's going to be 18/19 point, 8/9 rebound player."

Jeff Green and Courtney Lee can't wait to play with the Clinic.

ORLANDO, Fla. –Kelly Olynyk’s new Boston Celtics teammates are excited about playing with him, but might give him some grief about his shoulder-length hair. Jeff Green already has a new nickname for the 7-footer out of Gonzaga who’s been so impressive at summer league: Sunshine, as in just like the quarterback in Remember the Titans.

“I think we need to talk about this summer league game we’re about to have, and the way Kelly’s been playing. Kelly’s been playing awesome. His nickname’s going to be Sunshine for me, from Remember the Titans. But I think he’s been playing well. I didn’t know, I didn’t get to watch him a lot at Gonzaga, but he has great footwork, I didn’t know he could shoot the ball like he can. But he’s really impressed me and I’m looking forward to playing with him.”

Olynyk has shown an impressive shooting stroke all week at summer league, averaging 19 points over Boston's first two games.

“That just opens the floor wide open," Green said, "especially with me slashing to the basket, (Rajon) Rondo penetrating, Courtney on the break, Avery (Bradley) – I mean, we have guys who can get to the rim. We have bigs who can spread the floor and knock down the shots, I think it just opens everything up.”

Lee said he’s watched all of Boston’s summer league games so far and likes what he sees from the first-round draft pick.

“Oh, man. Big boy can stroke it,” he said. “I saw him hit a three in transition the other day, I was impressed. He has good touch, good footwork. He can stretch the floor, and when he sets those picks he’s going to be an option on the pick and pop because he can shoot. He’s definitely going to help us.”

If he’s like the movie character who inspired his new nickname, Olynyk can’t throw the option pitch. But as long as he can keep drilling jumpers and spacing the court, that’s okay with Green.

UP's coach Reveno:

@CoachReveno: Discipline breeds success. Simple. RT @ByJayKing Olynyk, an academic All-American, said he never skipped a single class in college.

Meet the Clynyk.

Why don't we just have this stickied so that we can all come back easily to see how awesome Mic... Olynyk is.

Unfortunately, I'm watching Pangos and the Canadian team fuck up Team USA right now, and I caught an interesting fact about Kelly Olynyk. I knew his pops was a respected Canadian coach, but according to the ESPNU announcers, apparently Kelly Olynyk's father cut Steve Nash from the Canadian Junior National Team when Nash was a teenager.

I don't know if that says more about Olynyk's father or Steve Nash. I mean, how many Canadian teens could have really been better than Steve Nash in high school?

I really think Steve Nash's legend has grown far too much as a result of Mike D'Antoni and the SSOL offense.

His body probably hadn't matured much yet. I mean look at what CJ McCollum looked like in the beginning of high school.

Shit I remember seeing Dunleavy as a Jr in high school and he looked like a pipsqueak that had no business being on the court.

Sunshine, looks solid. great job in summer league. Looks like a good attitude and work ethic. will be interesting to see how he does when the real games start. looks like another great move from Ainge.
