And I injured my left knee. That wasn't my bad knee. I guess I now have two bad knees.

Sorry to hear this, crandc. Hope it heals up and doesn't cause any lingering problems for you.

If you have to stay off your feet too long I'll bake you some cookies. I'm pretty good in the kitchen.
Hey, I'm off my feet. My poor wife has to wheel me everywhere. She uses the medium wide wheel chair to get me most places but transfers me to the narrowest wheel chair when we get to rooms with narrow door widths. Poor 120 lb. woman grunting and groaning as she moves me from place to place. I try not to put any weight on my bad foot.
Where's my cookies, dammit?

Sounds like your wife could use some cookies. She carries a second wheelchair along as she pushes you?

She moves the smaller wheel chair to the room where it's needed and then wheels me over there in my medium wheel chair and helps transfers me from the medium to the small and then wheels me to my final destination in the small wheel chair. No doubt about it, she's a powerful woman but not that powerful.
The large wheel chair is reserved for trips to dialysis because the ambulance can handle that one. It is kept in the garage until needed. She helps me get into it, opens the garage door and wheels me out to the ambulance where the ambulance driver takes over.
Yes, I have three wheel chairs and four walkers. One walker did not have a back rest so rather than exchanging the third walker for a new one with the back rest they just sent me a new one and nothing was said. My occupational therapist who handles equipment needed at home, said to keep the old one and start using the new one. That all happened before I broke my foot..

Wow, Lanny. Just getting back in here after being away for a couple of weeks. SO sorry to hear about what you're going through! I wish you a safe and speedy recovery however you can! You have an amazing wife, who, no doubt, will be your Florence Nightingale in whatever way possible!

Sly gave them all to Mrs HCP.

My doctor wants to give a cortisone shot for my knee, but has no available appointment until next Tuesday. A long time to be hobbled. Serves me right for trying to keep up with 20 something trainer in exercise video. Need to remember my advanced age and decrepit state.

Sounds like a little mental decay may have entered the equation.

Yeah, but still you're young hot babe to me. (no offense intended) Me? Now I'm what's known as an old geezer. Cheer up, you're all headed my way, every last one of you.

So do you have to have Surgery? Just a cast or walking boot?

None of the above. The doc just said to not put weight on the foot. I need to ask him for how long and what can we do to speed the mending up and what can we do to make life easier on my poor wife. Maybe he'll allow me to use the walker.

posted this in the covid thread Lanny
Lanny you need a sit to stand frame for moving between small doors....your wife doesn't need to lift you at all....I did transfers for quadriplegics for years after retiring from the school district....there's no need to lift anyone if you have the tool....also you can opereate an electric chair without assistance unless you want to transfer.....get your wife a sit to stand frame and make her life easy....hope you are doing ok

Lanny, why did I think this was an appropriate post?

Make sure you elevate that leg to get good blood circulation going so that the bone heals quicker. No, your actual leg and not your third leg, Lanny!
Yeah, I elevate it for at least half the day and probably a bit more. If you count night time then it's elevated at least 2/3 of the day.
