"So this isn’t IN Portland? Just hillbilly areas?"

Geez this is an ignorant take! Portland verses Hillbilly areas?
Is this for real?

I guess you wanted three regions, Portland, the hillbilly areas, and the hippie areas?

It isn't a recent thing. My gramma could change a tire today. She's 90.

My grandfather had a dayjob as a mechanic for 40? 50? years. Owned his own shop when he remarried.
However his daughter(my mother) can't change a tire, let alone perform basic maintenance.
My 6'8, 32 year old male cousin can't change a tire, let alone check the oil or wiper fluid on his wife's car.
While his sister 25 year old 5'2 110lb girl does all of that on her truck, and more.
My biological fathers wife, & mother can't change a tire.

I know numerous people of all ages who can't change a tire, or perform basic maintenance on their vehicles.
Tis why I said these things aren't new. Nor is it stuck to the 'new generations'.

I think sly is far more intelligent than the comment he left. Which is why I said he's better than that.

I think it is most likely more of a modern thing anyway. Cars are reliable and run forever. Tires rarely go flat really. You don't really need to know how to take care of things like that today. You don't get stuck somewhere if you can't.

Gardening is one of those same things. My grandfather had an amazing garden. I remember watching him hang off the handles of a giant rototiller when I was a kid. I know the basic idea of gardening but have had no reason to really want to learn it.

Yes, exactly, and I think that was Sly's actual point. It's cars that have changed.

Ha, well I didn't really have a choice but to learn how to grow my own food.
However I also learned around 16. The opposite gender loves a boy(now man) who knows how to garden.
Granted I don't gardening things for the opposite gender anymore. I do it because fuck grocery stores and their ass food.
I think knowing basic car maintenance or being able to garden has to do with individuals. More than it has to do with a generational disconnect.

Or even cars lasting 'forever'.

People are acting silly about this. It specifically says "in lower population areas" and "option to".

It's not about people being lazy. It's about job loss. So what we're saying is in rural areas we are going to lose more jobs.

People don't read the article. Only the headline.

The girl with the nozzle upside down might get an extra ounce or two. Maybe she's a genius.

Maybe she's a genius that no one understands
Maybe she's an inventor
Clever with her hands
Right now she's just small time
But she's got big plans
Or maybe she's just a shifty gal
That's got a violent streak
Maybe she's the one who murdered
That clown and and got away scott free

Song?

Yep. Had to change the gender to make it fit.

Real Oregonians have repeatedly said no to this shit. Their elected representatives are quite aware of this, which is why they are sneaking it into law through baby steps without letting us vote on it.

Luckily, Oregon has a great initiative process through which we can appeal any bad laws forced upon us.
