I agree but think he's more likely going to miss a season and a half or two but he's young and strong. That's a good thing.Yes, but I am very optimistic for him. With medical technology what it is today there is hope that he can come back and be the player he can be. You saw it with Livingston, you see it with d rose. I hope George is able to recover from this!

If he is out a season and a half to two years, I could see Indy go in a different direction and move Hibbert. But if they made that decision I can only see it being a rebuild job in which I think they would be looking for picks or young assets. Exactly, who does Portland have that would excite them in an exchange?
No one would give up anything unless he was willing to re sign. Basically he stays put or goes where he wants to in a random trade or playing it not and walking.

You're one that thinks it's a possibility that he comes to Portland. Do you think it will be via trade or free agency and what do you think they give up if it's a trade?
I'm wondering how much less than max we could get Hibbert for. He's definitely an upgrade over Rolo, but how much of an upgrade? Is he a big enough upgrade to make it worth losing Wes to get?
Possibly something like this? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n2c83cmExactly, who does Portland have that would excite them in an exchange?

I don't see it as Rolo = Hibbert. I DO think Rolo's value went up, but not to the point where he's on the same level as Hibbert. I think CJ is the point of the trade, from IND's perspective. Rolo & Wright keep them a viable team in the East - if that's what they're interested in - as they fill the roles of Hibbert and George. Basically they're value-replacements. CJ gives them a young player with promise while they wait (and hope) for George to come back, and a hedge in case he doesn't come back as the same player. With George out they can use the entire season to groom CJ as their primary scoring option. He had a good year last year. But do you think Rolo moved his perceived value across the NBA last year with other GM's? We saw what he did for the franchise and LA. But did that impact translate across the league?... Would KP, Bird seriously think that Rolo would be worthy compensation for Roy Hibbert?
There is no way I'd trade Wes or Rolo for Hibbert. Roy had the most inconsistently productive NBA seasons in history. He had multiple games of zero points and zero rebounds in the playoffs. Atlanta exposed him as a player that not only can be ineffective but also a total liability on the court. Now it's short sided to ignore all of his upside but its just as short sided to ignore his downside.
I'd be interested in having him as a complementary bit player. He could not be pencilled in for production at a position as well as Wes or Rolo can. That makes Hibbert a backup or a gamble as a starter for a team without a reliable option.
Merge this thread with the Aldridge did request a trade thread?

Why?

Because that's probably what it's going to come down to for Aldridge to stay.

Hibbert being shopped hard.
Tried to get Dragic, now trying to get Monroe. There should be a three-or-four-team trade involving Monroe, Bledsoe and Hibbert.
Trying to think what would be the best team for Hibbert. The Knicks, maybe? No, it's Phil time, not Riley time. Maybe Cleveland? That would be pretty amazing.
Just pay Rolo!
Seems like lance was the big locker room distraction. To watch the fireworks as Hibbert decimates another locker room? Yes, I agree.
