No he won't be. Meyers will play at least another 5 years and will make another 30-40 million. I would be very willing to bet on that.
His body has not been beat up. His minutes are low. He is over 7ft tall and can shoot the ball. The type of game he has is not hard on his body at all.
Last but not least a team will need him as a backup at the very least. Even vets minimum for his years will be 2-3 million a year. That gets him 15 million. He would be stupid to pass that up.
 
He will come back with the minimum next summer.
 
Next season I imagine Meyers will play Center for Miami (or other NBA team fortunate enough to get him) and average at least 20 points and 12 rebounds while scoring more than 42% of swish3s. This could have been on the Championship Blazers, but we gave that away and now must depend on Hassan Whiteside. I imagine that Meyers will continue to progress as an offensive weapon and increasingly potent defensive player, contributing to making the Playoffs. We will see if Hassan can be part of the Blazers making the Playoffs next year. The irony would be Meyers, but not the Blazers, reaching next season's conference finals.

I felt really bad when Ed Davis left....I understand your frustration...however I did ask you a question yesterday I've not received and answer to....Are you still a Blazer fan sans Meyers?....I know you're a Meyers fan...
 
Yes, Riverman, I am a Blazer fan. But we have given up a major talent in Meyers that would most likely have taken us to the NBA Championship. Now we will struggle to make it to the Playoffs, and may not see the Conference Finals again soon. The tragedy is that Blazer coaches did not better rely on this truly outstanding talent to average 3 or more swish3s game, which were always available. In the coming season, if Anthony Tolliver can do it, we might hope for the 120+ point scoring per game that will be needed for winning in the Playoffs. Dame, CJ, Nurk, Rodney, and Zach all deserve our encouragement, and hopefully Hassan will contribute to Blazer success. Let's remain optimistic!

Still won't forget when the ball went out off of him and he adamantly proclaimed to the refs that the other team should get the ball by pointing to the wrong side of the court repeatedly, completely oblivious to what he was doing wrong.

My favorite Meyers thing was the second guessing he consistently did inbounding the ball.

The one I really like was on that Vonleh game winner. On replay you can see him dead center of the screen throwing his arm, dejected, like "aaaah shit.." when they lost the ball, completely oblivious that we are getting it back and scoring
 
I think Nards is gonna REALLY like South Beach, I wish him luck.

I wonder how long until Jimmy goes off on him though:)

Your refusal to recognize Meyers leading statistics noted in the Blazers Playoff Leading Scorer thread, ahead of every other Blazer in 5 categories, his 14 of 33 swish3s, his 10 of 13 swish3 NBA Playoff record from 2014-2015, the 5 consecutive swish3s against GSW in the Playoffs, leading the 132-105 win over the Jazz, and his leadership convinces me that you are not open to the facts. Your anti-Blazer bias shows stridently. You and no one else could name another NBA player who scored 5 consecutive swish3s against GSW in the Playoffs!

Meyers is no longer a Blazer, and we have indeed lost the talent of one of the most efficient swish3 scorers in the NBA. Let's hope that Heat fans will provide a more supportive feeling for him, and if so there will be more instances proving his talent. For the Blazers that we now have, it makes sense to recognize and encourage talent and understand that confidence aids talent.

Here is my suggestion to you and others. Look for the positives for each Blazer, encourage them, and make constructive criticisms of what can be improved. Avoid making disrespectful comments, making a big deal about errors, don't assume that you know what a Blazer is thinking, and look for game plans that better optimize talent and win games. The hostile attitude that you and others showed here is a negative factor holding back Blazer success. Blazer fans would be better without it.

No Scalma. When Meyers does well next year, I will post comments on him as I please. I don't care what you make your Avatar, or even pay attention to them, but it is clear that you are strongly biased against Meyers, never recognizing his talent, and hatefully attacking him on many occasions. Remember Meyers 30 points, 12 rebounds, and swish3 shooting in WCF Game 4. That is a preview of next season.
 
My favorite Meyers "moment" was when he shot 90% (effective field goal percentage) in the playoff series against Memphis. Lamarcus Aldridge had an eFG% of 34% so the Blazers never had a chance.
 
In the last season with Meyers shooting a season average 45% of swish3s, the Blazers allowed him only 50 pf 111 for the season and 14 of 33 in the Playoffs when he is capable of scoring 150+ swish3s for the season on as few as 333 attempts. I imagine that the Heat will provide the minutes and the shots, and that we might see Meyers as an NBA swish3 efficiency leader next year. I think that scoring 160 swish3s in the regular season (be in the leading group and look for >380 attempts) is a real possibility for Meyers, and would like to see him do it.

As the team stands now in early July, we will be the Whiteside team depending on the best of the scoring and defense that Hassan can provide. I hope that Anthony and Skal can provide efficient swish3 scoring to aid Dame, CJ, and Rodney in getting us to 15+ swish3s scored per game to be competitive in the Western Conference, especially against the Clippers. Mario seems strongly connected and well motivated and might bring refreshing energy and determination next year. Let's hope for steady progress from Zach and concentrate on him as a Power Forward, stimulated and aided by Nassir. And let's hope for strong play from Baze. If we build team cohesion like last year, and keep high energy offense and defense without lapses, we can be competitive in this newly strengthened Western Conference.

Meyers scored 5 of 6 swish3s in the WCF Game 4 first half against GSW, and scored an amazing 2.5 points/FGA in that game. It is unlikely that any Blazer will equal that record for scoring efficiency, and that Meyers will have the all-time Blazer record. This is what you must acknowledge. And Meyers was a Blazer for 7 years, and did work hard and improve significantly.

The Blazers have squandered an opportunity to rely on Meyers to score 150+ swish3s in the season and 30+ in the Playoffs that the Heat will now have available. For the new Whiteside Blazers, let's aim to recognize talent as it emerges and play to it for the best chances to win. Blazer fans can add to player confidence, an essential element, rather than making disrespectful comments which are damaging and best avoided. Let's be positive!
