Shooter was a Saudi National who was taking flying lessons.

This is precisely why we need more guns in places - to deter people with guns from considering shooting at people. We need to arm military bases, they should not be sitting ducks.

Lot less deaths in a military base shooting than in a movie theater or school.

A Saudi Nationalist taking flying lessons?

Where have I heard that before?

oh yeah 9/11

When I was in the Army practically no one had a gun with ammo except the military police.

I believe those are the rules. Guns and ammo are locked away while on base (correct me if I’m wrong).

There are armed security guards, however.

Yeah, the armory has armed guards. I once guarded an armory.
I also carried a loaded 45 when I guarded a prisoner. i once carried a loaded 45 when I went on a prisoner chase up in Montana but turned in the weapon as soon as we got back to Ft. Lewis.

Ooh. Fugitive chase through Montana sounds like quite the experience.

The Navy just collided with the Coast Guard in Alaska I read yesterday...that never used to happen....it's happened 3 times in recent years. Are they drunk at sea?

Weren't they drunk at sea all along though?

Saudi Air Force trainee condemned US as 'nation of evil' in hate-fueled Twitter manifesto just hours before he killed three and injured eight at Pensacola naval base - as six others are arrested, including three who FILMED the attack
  • Shooting took place on base early Friday morning, sparking a lockdown
  • Sources identified the suspected gunman as Saudi Air Force aviation student Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani
  • Alshamrani penned a hate-fueled manifesto on Twitter just hours before the attack, according to an intelligence group who tracked down his account
  • The manifesto damned the United States as a 'nation of evil' who 'support, fund and commit crimes against Muslims'
  • The Twitter account - now suspended - is said to also feature anti-Israel posts and a quote from al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden
  • On Friday evening, six other Saudi nationals were detained for questioning
  • It's reported that three of them filmed the shooting as it happened
  • Rep Matt Gaetz, a Republican representing Pensacola, called the shooting 'an act of terrorism'
  • President Trump tweeted that King Salman told him 'the Saudi people are greatly angered by the barbaric actions of the shooter...'

Not surprised the act was committed by a few hate filled Saudi/muslim wackos, but fwiw, Matt Gaetz acts like a hate filled wacko himself.

The prisoner was being held by the Air Force who picked him up at his grandmother's house. After we delivered him to Ft. Lewis he appeared as our cook the very next day. Just a very nice but frightened young man. Not at all like the rapist I had to guard.

Edit:
While guarding the rapist in the hospital I learned that hospital patients had to clean their own beds every day. No rest in the Army.

another "perfect" phone call. We sold a billion in military goods to the Saudi's when Trump was elected.....buy a fighter jet you get free schooling in Pensacola....maybe they should move that training camp to Riyad

Another example of people who legally are not supposed to have guns, find a way to do it anyway.

Take away the green font and this is exactly how I feel. We are sitting ducks
