Nah, they are smart.
Always follow the money.
Smart, who needs self determination anyway?
Political signs should be banned at sporting events. It'll get too distracting.
What about political songs?
National Anthem?
Canada's?
I wouldn't mind if they didnt have them tbh. I would actually prefer if they didnt.
We do you hate America?
That's bearly funny.Houston should rename their team the Pandas.
Elmer Layden started the whole singing the national anthem at football games after it was ordered in 1931. Up until then they sang it a few times at baseball games but the whole patriotism through sports seems a bit forced to me.National Anthem?
Canada's?
The Dame/CJ extensions might absolutely destroy our flexibility if the cap doesn't increase or drops. If this China thing has a massive effect on the cap, I would hope for a provision in the CBA to allow for some leeway here. There are reports stating that a severe drop in the salary cap is not out of the question.
If the cap drops for next season, wouldn't that decrease the value of Dame's extension? The Dame/CJ extensions might absolutely destroy our flexibility if the cap doesn't increase or drops. I went to a Blazers game in SLC, sporting a Blazers jersey. There were several jazz fans causing a “continuing disruption.” Security‘Free Hong Kong’ signs and chants get fans kicked out of NBA game — in Philadelphia
A married couple said they were kicked out of Tuesday’s exhibition game between the 76ers and the Guangzhou Loong-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association in Philadelphia for displaying signs that read “Free Hong Kong” and “Free HK” and then shouting the former slogan after security officers took their signs away.
Sam Wachs, a Philadelphia resident who said he lived in Hong Kong for two years, told NBC 10 that Wells Fargo Center security officers first confiscated their signs and then kicked him out along with his wife after they yelled “Free Hong Kong” in the second quarter.
“We were just sitting in our seats near the Chinese bench,” Wachs said.
“We were saying, ‘Free Hong Kong,’ " Wachs continued. “What’s wrong with that?”
In a statement to The Post, the 76ers said a number of fans had complained about the two fans’ “continuing disruption.”

Isn't it based on this year's cap? I know it's a percentage but the year is confusing. If it's next, then it won't matter if the cap dropsIf the cap drops for next season, wouldn't that decrease the value of Dame's extension?
Wow

did not kick them out of the game or even consider it - nor should they have. Coming onto the court is a disruption. Chanting "Free HK"
is not.

What about "Make America Great Again?" chants?
Its a slippery slope when it comes to mix politics and the fan experience. There should be zero tolerance, because then the events just become places for protestors to attention whore for themselves.
hmmm....15% and the cap would be dropping from 109M this season to 99M. The tax line would be 121M. A lot of teams, including Portland, would be in real binds
seems pretty extreme though

"A drop in the cap would also impact the starting figures for maximum salary contracts, which range from 25 to 30 to 35 percent of the cap."
that seems to go to what the platypus said about Dame's contract. A 15% drop would move his supermax 1st year salary from 43.8M down to about 37.2M. It probably wouldn't affect CJ's new contract though
As much as I want to support Hong Kong in this, I've always been very firm in my belief of leaving politics and social issues out of sports for this very reason.

Dame's new contract hasn't started yet though. Why shouldn't the new cap figure impact the starting value of a contract that starts that year? The key word is starting. Dame's contract is set in value the moment he signs. That's why he could've potentially made even more if he waited to sign but that looks like it could go the opposite way. So max contracts signed next summer would be better value for the team then any signed this summer under this scenario.
I've been saying for years the NBA needed to change this to always be a percentage of the cap so every 30% player makes the same amount. Instead like last year you have max players like Kawhi, Klay, and Jimmy Butler making around $20 million on max deals and others like Otto Porter making $25-$30 million.
