That's bullshit. If a player can't be bothered to improve his free throw shooting he shouldn't be shielded by some cockamamie rule.

Anyway, if he went to the line fewer times we would be deprived of the spectacle of "Airball Jordan" and his foul shooting!

One-trick ponies like Jordan and Howard are embarrassing and f'ing boring to watch. Any tall person can dunk or block a shot.

I am of the opinion that if you can't average at least 50% of your free throws you should be automatically removed from the game by the refs in every game at crunch time. Better yet, banned from all 2nd and 4th quarters entirely.

This would save the player and his inept coaching staff from public embarrassment, increase fan viewership, and keep games exciting to watch.

Stiffs who can't make uncontested shots shouldn't even be in a league people pay to watch.
