Complete bullshit by the league. That game was so influenced by the officiating. Curry and Thompson get grabbed, held and knocked when they come through the lane, and Curry fouls out on 4 bullshit calls.

I'm not defending Curry's actions when he got tossed. You can't do that. However, I completely see why he is frustrated.

Brilliant move by Kerr after the game. The Warriors should get a lot of calls at home in game 7
The sad thing is, this is nothing new. SMH

It's got to be hard for players to be on the receiving end of the favoritism for a period of time, then suddenly have the rugged pulled out from under them. Human nature is to throw some form of tantrum I guess. Or mouthpiece at a fan.

(Edit: Haha. I meant 'rug' but 'rigged' must have subconsciously slipped in there. :) Rug + Rigged = Rugged)

"Into the crowd"? That's the league's story?

Such bullshit.

Curry threw his mouth guard, as hard as he could, on purpose, directly at a specific fan, and struck said fan with it.

What is Silver going to do when someone like Green drills a fan in the face with a basketball? Or kicks one. Or actually physically attacks one?

How are people defending Curry's temper tantrum on the basis of unfair calls? He kept reaching in and grabbing nothing but arm. The only one that seemed questionable was the steal against Kyrie, but even then he made a lot of contact with the left shoulder to impede progress and reach across. On the last call, he grabbed LeBron twice. They let the first, more obvious one go, then said enough is enough.

That's not to say other fouling wasn't going on un-called, but Curry definitely deserved the calls that went against him. I thought it was a fairly officiated game. Cleveland was in first half foul trouble, too, just it was their less important players making the mental mistakes.

The Blazers got MURDERED by the constant arm grab going around the screens in both the Clippers and Warriors series'. The league should really clean that up.

Why would we possibly want a game 7 played without the two past/current MVP's of the league playing?
Suspending Curry for that would be the dumbest thing the league could possibly do.

Has there ever been a 7 game finals series where the margin of victory was double digits in every game? This one is on track for that:

Game 1: GSW wins by 15
Game 2: GSW wins by 33
Game 3: CLE wins by 30
Game 4: GSW wins by 11
Game 5: CLE wins by 15
Game 6: CLE currently up by 19

Boring as fuck. Not a single close game. What happened to games where the last possession matters? Hell, at this point, it would be nice to see a game where the last quarter matters.

BNM

Ok, updated with Game 6 results:

Game 1: GSW wins by 15
Game 2: GSW wins by 33
Game 3: CLE wins by 30
Game 4: GSW wins by 11
Game 5: CLE wins by 15
Game 6: CLE wins by 14

Average margin of victory = 19.7 points. These are supposed to be the two best teams in the league, but that scoring margin is ridiculous. GSW led the league with an average scoring margin of 10.8 points per game during their record setting regular season. CLE had an average margin of victory of 6.0 points per game against the league at large. Now, put the two of them together and the result is not a single close game and an average margin of victory of almost 20 points per game.

This is easily, the most boring 7-game finals ever. Oh sure, you have all the soap opera nonsense. Will Draymond get suspended? Did LeBron disrespect him? Will Curry get suspended for his hissy fit last night? How much will Steve Kerr get fined for criticizing the officials and will his team benefit? But that's not basketball. That's bullshit. The NBA finals have become a reality TV show, and a bad one at that. At least the artificially created drama on most reality TV show creates tension. In this case, it's just added to the boredom of what we're seeing on the court.

I still find the series pretty damn compelling.

As mentioned earlier, all these three point attempts leads to increased variance, and that increases scoring margins. Still exciting to watch though.

Steve Kerr: "Let me be clear, we did not lose because of the officiating," Kerr said. "They totally outplayed us and Cleveland deserved to win. But those three of the six fouls were incredibly inappropriate calls for anybody, much less the MVP of the league."

So you're saying certain players deserve preferential treatment?

I get that it exists, but for a coach to basically cry for it is pathetic.

From a short-term business standpoint, sure. Long term? Does the league really want to encourage this behavior to escalate?

That's why the league was quick to respond with a fine (Big dollars to us, peanuts to the players). If Draymond can get away with a nut-hack, you really think the league would suspend its' MVP?

Especially after Kerr basically admitted stars get star preferential treatment?

Last night while watching the game with friends I commented that this year's Finals are essentially the same as Nascar - the only reason any of us were watching was to find out what Green would do next, much like how Nascar fans watch because of the crashes rather than the driving. We're certainly not watching it for basketball-related reasons!

Agreed. I think much of that is the fault of our team makeup, though. We're loaded with fairly passive defenders that react to plays instead of initiating. Aggressive players and teams always get the benefit of the calls.

The league is a joke. It might as well be scripted.

You baffle the hell out of me. Your constant bitching about everything related to the game is more of a joke than the items you're complaining about. Why do you bother watching? Just stick to your Fantasy sports where nothing will pop your delicate bubble.

I still find the series pretty damn compelling.

Same here. If the Blazers blow out a team, we all call it a great game and are thankful it didn't come down to a last second shot giving the opponent a chance to win. People need to gain perspective and enjoy the amazing play taking place before our eyes, even if it is inconsistent by team from one game to the next. If you think the outcome is fixed, do everyone a favor and don't tune in.

Fact is, Steph should be suspended for game 7. This is a fact. Not an opinion. even if it was an opinion, it would be factual.

GSW crybabies...

LeBron may be called the GOAT by some, but if the Warriors lose the series as a result of Draymond Groin's suspection, we know who the Goat will be. I like Cleveland's chances in Game 5, in which case they become the slight favorite at home in Game 6. That makes it a very plausible 1-game series because of that doofus.

Draymond Groin was ballin' out of his gym shorts, but it wasn't enough to overcome the handi crystal ball.

Love was atrocious on offense and defense, but kudos to him for getting back to working the glass.

How am I just now noticing after multiple quotes that I wrote suspection instead of suspension?

Was just chatting with a friend and the topic of trading LeBron for Curry came up. Would you do it? I sort of think both teams would. Cleveland gets a younger superstar and insurance against LeBron leaving/retiring, while Golden State gets an unstoppable 2-way lineup with finesse and brute force. Cleveland would have to move Kyrie for it to work, of course.

I would not make the trade. It will be interesting to see if they trade Love though.

You being which side?

Love's value is rock bottom right now. I'm not sure they can even get a late 1st round pick for him. And they don't have much enticing to package him with.

Love isn't that bad, they could easily get a good offer for him. His salary is quite expensive but with the new cap some sides will happily pay him $19M or whatever he's on.

What team is going to want Love at a near-max contract? The Finals exposed how atrocious he is at a fast-paced game. He couldn't even make any coordinated post moves against smaller defenders. His only redeeming quality was rebounding well in Game 7, but GS had gone ultra-small ball, so even that isn't saying much. Maybe they can flip him for bad fit like Greg Monroe?

Steph Curry had the worst Finals performance by an MVP in NBA history

The first unanimous MVP played more like a rookie in the 2016 Finals.

Outside of one especially compelling performance in Game 4, Stephen Curry just completed the worst Finals you'll ever see from a reigning MVP.

Actually, check that. There's always a chance that a future MVP will play even worse than Curry did in the 2016 Finals. But at this moment, Curry doesn't really have any peers. Blame him, credit the Cleveland Cavaliers, or do a little bit of both. But no matter how you slice it, Curry's unanimous MVP season was undoubtedly tarnished by an absolutely awful stretch on the biggest stage.

These are relative terms, of course. An "awful" series from an MVP is still better than what most players could hope to accomplish in The Finals. Yet we expect more of the game's biggest stars; that's why they're MVPs. And in 2016, Curry came up well short of playing like the most valuable player in the league. Don't take our word for it, though; let the numbers wash over you.

(Disclaimer: Because not all box score stats are created equal, it can be tough to draw a one-to-one comparison from one performance to the next. For the purposes of this ranking, we went back and pored over video, game recaps and columns written in the wake of each Finals series, combined with our own recollections of how each MVP played. You can quibble with numbers five through two of these rankings based on those "metrics," but one thing is certain: Curry's series was the worst by an MVP. Remember, LeBron James didn't win the award in 2011 when he fell flat against the Dallas Mavericks; beyond that, we're excluding Magic Johnson's performance while injured in 1989, since he only appeared in three games for a total of 75 minutes that series.)

The Warriors picked a really bad time to prove themselves mortal after months of rewriting record books and changing the NBA landscape. As Cleveland now has the distinction of being the first team to ever overcome a 3–1 Finals deficit, the 73-win Warriors are infamously the first team to ever lose a Finals series after going up 3–1.

The writer has never heard of the legend of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Warriors fans now cry about the NBA being rigged, lol this is gold.
Where have they been when refs looked the other way while their goons set a million illegal screens for Curry and Klay? what about Curry getting away with throwing a dirty mouth piece at a fan?

So glad the Warriors lost.
