NBA free agents - One list to rule them all

Cavs have spent $230 million today and that doesn't include possibly trading Brenda Haywoods nonguaranteed contract for more salary, paying Dellavedova, retaining JR Smith, or that kid from Akron.
Potentially Cleveland could look like this:

Irving / Delly
Shumpert / Smith / Harris
LeBron / Osman / Miller
Love / Thompson
Mozgov / Varejao / Christmas

That leaves two open vet min spots that will be filled by James Jones and likely another PG

That team is fucking loaded.

Best team money can buy

By the time they pay Lebron, the roster will cost about what Gilbert paid for the team

The size difference is incredible, Marc was a big boy.

Good list! I think Gerald Green would be a nice pickup. He and Aminu would take care of the SF position. Green brings the offense while Aminu brings the defense. I think it would be good to bring Freeland back for a reasonable contract as well. No telling how ready Vonleh is, and he can play both center and PF. I've also always liked Carl Landry.

I remember when John Nash was interested in drafting Green, but Green refused to play against anyone during the drills, he said his dad advised him not to. So he took Webster instead.

Kevin Pelton has an interesting article rating the available free agents by real plus minus (RPM) and estimating their dollar value for the next 3 years.

Link to the article

LeBron $156 million in value for next 3 seasons
DeAndre $107 mil
Kawhi $101 mil
Love $89
#5 Draymond Green $88
Butler $87
Millsap $73
Danny Green $72
LaMarcus $69. (Pelton explains RPM underrates LMA value and it should probably be $93.5)
#10 Monroe $69
Duncan $62
Marc Gasol $62 (also underrated as long 2's help but RPM ignores them)
Middleton $62
Tyson Chandler $56
#15 Carroll $53
Dragic $51
Wesley $51 (ignoring Achillies injury)
Amir Johnson $48
Ellis $48
#20 Beverley $45
Ginobili $45
Reggie Jackson $42
Brandon Knight $42
Robin Lopez $42
#25 Ed Davis $38
Tobias Harris $38
Jae Crowder $37
JR Smith $36
Thad Young $35
#30 Shumpert $34
Asik $34
Tristian Thompson $34
Al-Farouq Aminu $34
Brook Lopez $33
Paul Pierce $31

Bump, just to keep this on the front page.

I wonder if we try to sign a number of bargain free agents or assume bad contracts with cap space for an asset. We have more cap space than any team in the league.

Go the Sixers-route for 1 year...

Thread stickied for now. I don't know how it got unstuck ...

So from the list of FA's that have already signed, who would have been a difference maker for us?
Pretty much just Greg, and even that is debatable.

----------------------------------------------------
Free agents who've agreed to sign with a new team:
Greg Monroe - MIL age25 $16.7m/yr for 3 years (PO) $50 million
DeMarre Carroll - TOR age28 $15m/yr for 4 years $60 million
Tyson Chandler - PHX age32 $13m/yr for 4 years $52 million
Amir Johnson - BOS age28 $12m/yr for 2 years $24 million
Monta Ellis - IND age29 $11m/yr for 4 years (PO) $44 million
Arron Afflalo - NYK age28 $8m/yr for 2 years (PO) $16 million
Al-Farouq Aminu - POR age24 $7.5m/yr for 4 years $30 million
Brandan Wright - MEM age27 $6m/yr for 3 years $18 million
Paul Pierce - LAC age37 $3.5m/yr for 3 years (TO) $10.5 million

Ellis would have been exciting but doubt he would have helped much in the win column. Really the only one we missed out on that we could have used is Monroe and of course that stings.

Free agents I'd target;

Sergio Rodriguez - Europe age29
Marco Belinelli - SAS age29
Corey Brewer - HOU age29
Wesley Johnson - LAL age27
Kosta Koufos - MEM age26
Kevin Seraphin - WSH age25
Bismack Biyombo - CHA age22

PG Cory Joseph - SAS age23 (restricted)
PG Pat Beverly - HOU age26 (restricted)
SG KJ McDaniels - HOU age22 (restricted)

Players I'd potentially target for trade if we can't get value back from sign and trades for our own free agents.

Mario Chalmers - MIA age29 $4.3
Jeff Green - MEM age28 $9.2
David Lee - GS age32 $15.5
Taj Gibson - CHI age30 $8.5/9.0
Joakim Noah - CHI age30 $13.4
Roy Hibbert - IND age28 $15.5

I like Lin too... big enough to play SG too. Seems like he kills Blazers when we play him.

But have to trade (who? what?) for a SF... I like Jeff Green, but what about Trevor Ariza... established 'winner' role model vet a good fit?

Who besides Dame is untouchable on our roster right now? Just CJ?

I have zero interest in Lin. He's a terrible defender and we already have Damian. If we spend cap space on a PG it needs to be a player that brings something defensively.

Jeff Green is a SF/PF; don't think we really need that with Aminu. Ariza is good but getting old and we are going younger.

We are good in the frontcourt; Dame and CJ will do the ball handling. We really need some SG/SF wings. They need to provide two of three attributes; defense, shooting or shot creation. All three would be great but thats usually more of an allstar player. Find someone that can be great at two of them and hopefully not a big negative at the third.

Id still like CJ Watson with Gerald Green. And isn't Kofous available? Could get rid of Kaman for a pick or S&T for Kofous.

Lillard / Watson
McCollum / Henderson
Aminu / Green
Leonard / Davis
Plumlee / Kofous

That's a pretty stacked bench

CJ Watson agreed to go to Orlando. Gerald Green and Kofous are useful rotational players but they probably make us tie up cap room from next season. They'll take minutes from younger players and we are a lotto team regardless. Unless they agree to underpaid contracts or just huge one year contracts I'd do something else.

Word is that OKC will match a max offer for Kanter. Not much left. We really need a SF though. Gerald Green?

he fits exactly what we need, and he's entertaining. Gerald and Gerald. The bounce brothers.

That line up wouldn't be able to compete for a playoffs seed in the Western conference.

I would love Jeremy Lin!
I am also concerned about the point guard situation. Frazier is not what I consider to be the backup to a star point guard. I think we need to look at Lin, or Rivers and also sign Dorell Wright. short contracts would be preferable (two years).
