It's gonna be funny to see Portlands largest dispensary having their logo sported on a Blazer jersey.

They won't reduce costs anywhere else. This isn't going to lower seat prices or LP.
This is another revenue stream. And this is NOTHING like soccer because (as Strenuus said) there are very few commercials in soccer so they have to find revenue elsewhere. The NBA has a million commercials. This just guarantees that I won't ever buy a jersey again.
This is my stance as well. How exactly is more advertisement going to help the consumer? Cable to watch the games is through the roof. League pass is blacked out in home markets. Tickets aren't cheap either. Neither is merchandise. Like Strenuus said, we get bombarded with commercials, pre-game, post-game, halftime, and throughout the broadcast ... will that change? Hell no.Soccer: Barely commercials
Basketball: Commercials every 3 minutes of game time, halftime, pregame, postgame, end of quarters.
Yeah. NBA REALLY needs another avenue for revenue.
That's fucking bullshit. And that's mild.
I think Strenuus is taking a 2.5 x 2.5 patch a littleeeeee too seriously![]()
Ya, a certain kinda inevitability feel to this news.
But it won't.I've ordered LP broadband the past three years, and every year it has gone up substantially per team. And nothing has been done to address the farce that is NBA TV. Why the fuck do they black that shit out when it's on your own damn network? Regardless, if jersey ads can mean prices for LP don't go up and it reduces dumbass blackout rules, all for it.
This is really getting you heated? Who cares. Won't change the product on the court at all.Because it's more money in the pockets of billionaires and more ads shoved down our throats? I laid it out already.
It's the IDEA of it, not the 2.5x
Think about it for a second, it's not that hard to understand.
No, it's one 2x5 patch on the left shoulder. And in soccer, it's the WHOLE front of the uni.I'm used to it because of soccer. But the clubs usually do a really good job of blending the ads in. And each shirt has just one "sponsor." I'm imagining a local insurance company and a couple of beer logos. This could get ugly.

If you think it's going to stop at that, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Well, if it takes this much process to get the change enacted, we might not see more ads for a while.
Im not a fan of advertising in this league with so many contracts for the nba and individual players. There is plenty of money already to spread around. With that said, IF, it helps maintain ( no more increases) or lower ticket sales, league passes, etc, then IM with Yuyuza, all for it.
If it doesnt do anything for the fan other than try to get them to buy more pepsi, then fuck this idea with a 50 ft pole up a coal infested asshole filled with crab cakes....
When they see the money coming in, it'll happen much faster.
NBA acts on money. They don't think about the consumer. They may make you think they do, but they couldn't care less about the consumer.
For now...No, it's one 2x5 patch on the left shoulder. And in soccer, it's the WHOLE front of the uni.

The umpires in the Australian Football League are sponsored by OPSM.... a prescription glasses company. It's the refs that should have ads on their uniforms, because they're bought anyways.

Wow. I grew up watching the Lakers and Sixers and Celtics battle it out on TV with a basketball in my hands with hoop posters on my wall. Then at halftime and as soon as the game ended ran outside and played the game till it got dark. I am a fan of the game, pure and simple. They could wear garbage bags and I'd still watch. To each his own huh?
