i doubt they will trade embiid for brogdon and grant unless embiid is damaged goods

Still, he would be quite the lotto ticket (not that kind of lotto) if he turns out to recover out of an injury phase like Joel did. Though I can't imagine Embiid's agent would want his fragile center going to play for the Portland "Abandon All Knees Ye Who Enter Here" Trail Blazers

Jovic would still have to beat out Jabari and probably Kris for playing time and I'm not sure he could but if the Heat want to give him up for a second rounder then...

Is slow Joe going to do anything or does he think we have everything we need to contend for mediocrity?

Reading this article I thought, "the thing that goes with everything else and has value is draft picks". I don't know if the teams out there are offering draft picks but we should be asking for them. I read an article that said we didn't want picks we want players but because we don't know which of our young guys, if any will pop we don't know what players at what positions with what skill sets we need. So the answer is draft picks. I honestly believe that at the very least Malcolm and Jerami have more value to contending teams than they do to us and that we could find the contending team(s) that wanted to pay that extra value in draft picks if we wanted to. I just don't know how ambitious Joe is and that scares me.

If we don't trade Jerami or Malcolm or both Joe can't even tell us why and that's the unsettling thing. He has to say that we didn't make a deal because we like the players we have too much. He has to say that to appease the players and he has to say that to keep their value high for the off season or next trade deadline or whenever. The scary thing is if that's the truth (us just liking our players too much) because this fucking roster doesn't make any sense.

I'm going to sleep and maybe when I wake up in 6 hours our team will be transformed into something that makes sense to me, or maybe that will happen by noon. I don't know but what I do know is that if nothing significant happens by noon, I'm not going to get a clear answer on why it didn't or what the plan for my team is and that'll be kinda shitty if it's our reality as Blazers fans tomorrow. I can be happy as a fan of our team even when we're losing 70% of our games but the pathway from losing over 50 games a season to winning over 50 games a season has to be at least outlined for me to stay happy during the losing.

Just two years ago people here were crapping on Cronin for making a deal too soon and not waiting until right before the trade deadline. When did the narrative change he waited too long?

Let's not contradict ourselves.

I don't have a problem with Joe right now besides the opinion that I have that he pushed Dame out and lied about it the entire time... I can get past that though because if Joe didn't see a path to winning a championship with Dame (like many many fans in this forum) then it was a shrewd move and we need a GM capable of being shrewd. No I don't have a problem with Joe today, if the roster looks the same tomorrow afternoon I'll have a problem with him.

To be complete, people were crapping on Cronin for making a bad deal several days before the deadline. If he had actually extracted decent value for Powell, nobody would have hated an eye at the timeline.

As for this year, like @blazerkor says, if he actually does make the trades this roster clearly needs, nobody will care how close to the deadline we were. The consternation is simply over the reporting that the Blazers are unlikely to move guys like Brogdon and Grant (and Ant). If that reporting turns out to be true, if no deal is made this morning, fans will absolutely have a right to be annoyed.

I was gonna say, send him here now to never play again?

Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat. I bumped the meltdown thread for you bro.

I’m afraid some of you are gonna be very disappointed. grab a blanket, fireplace and some honey tea so help quell the pain.

No. 2028.

Ahh okay. I’m with ya then. I highly doubt the team is anything like it is now with the huge payroll they have and aging stars. Likely in a complete rebuild like us by that time and in the lottery. I would make that trade for that pick and salary filler.

Watched the Pels play last night. People better take that team seriously. Zion looks great and CJ is playing as well as I have ever seen with reduced minutes. They have him down to like 32 mins a game. Even free throws are back close to 80%.

I might need to eat crow on Zion. I really thought he would be out of the league in another year or two. He seems to have turned things around.

But with a guy like Balmer calling the shots, you never know. He can just pay the next round of high powered FA's to come to LAC. They may not have to rebuild the old fashioned way.

NOP and LAC in the WCF? Bet on it.

I mean, guys, it makes PERFECT sense that everyone else is making trades and we're standing pat, because they're all flawed and we're perfect already.

Some trades make sense, and then there are others...

Why would the seemingly-tanking Raptors give up a first for Olynyk?
