Reading this article I thought, "the thing that goes with everything else and has value is draft picks". I don't know if the teams out there are offering draft picks but we should be asking for them. I read an article that said we didn't want picks we want players but because we don't know which of our young guys, if any will pop we don't know what players at what positions with what skill sets we need. So the answer is draft picks. I honestly believe that at the very least Malcolm and Jerami have more value to contending teams than they do to us and that we could find the contending team(s) that wanted to pay that extra value in draft picks if we wanted to. I just don't know how ambitious Joe is and that scares me.
If we don't trade Jerami or Malcolm or both Joe can't even tell us why and that's the unsettling thing. He has to say that we didn't make a deal because we like the players we have too much. He has to say that to appease the players and he has to say that to keep their value high for the off season or next trade deadline or whenever. The scary thing is if that's the truth (us just liking our players too much) because this fucking roster doesn't make any sense.
I'm going to sleep and maybe when I wake up in 6 hours our team will be transformed into something that makes sense to me, or maybe that will happen by noon. I don't know but what I do know is that if nothing significant happens by noon, I'm not going to get a clear answer on why it didn't or what the plan for my team is and that'll be kinda shitty if it's our reality as Blazers fans tomorrow. I can be happy as a fan of our team even when we're losing 70% of our games but the pathway from losing over 50 games a season to winning over 50 games a season has to be at least outlined for me to stay happy during the losing.
