Exclusive NBA Trade Deadline Thread 2024 (2 Viewers)

I highly doubt the team will look the same next year. That will pretty much begin at this years trade deadline. Which is scheduled for Feb 8th 2024. I believe it will again be over at 3:00 PM Eastern time again.
Lots of different trade threads. Obviously there is lots of talk about getting rid of Brogdon and Grant.
I wonder if Simons isn't also on the block? I really wonder if he will be on the Blazers next year? Is there a chance Ayton is sitting because they have a place to send him? Do we honestly think he is the center of the future for this team? Many are saying we are stuck with his contract.

Biggest thing I see is there is a bunch of moves they need to make and I highly doubt they can get them all done in a timely fashion. This rebuild is looking bigger and longer with every blowout loss.

Then there is the growing question??? IS Chauncey the right coach to lead us through a rebuild?

How about New Ownership? This is a huge question IMO.

This thread is a thread to discuss all these questions and any other questions that you might have about the length (Few Years? Fewer Years, Few More Years) and what is realistic as far as how good the team could be?
I started this thread with this. I am shocked that they are still so far from becoming a playoff caliber team. Yes this rebuild looks murky and directionless.
I should probably change the thread title to Trade Deadline 2025.

That's what I was expecting, a guy we would probably waive on an expiring and a playoff team's FRP for Malcolm. I thought we could get more if we were taking on a bad contract. For Jerami I thought we could either get two late firsts, a late first and a good prospect, a good prospect, two lotto protected future firsts and a bad contract or something along those lines.

I have a feeling based on all of the chatter around the league about how much a bunch of different teams liked both Malcolm and Jerami that those were the types of offers that were coming in and they weren't good enough for Cronin. You can applaud him for that but I think it was foolish to keep these guys if something like those offers were on the table.

The fact is Joe put it out there to multiple local and national reporters that he wanted to keep Jerami and Malcolm unless someone blew him away with an offer that sounded like it would have to be an overpay. Well Joe got what he wanted we're a .300 team with two vets whose value isn't going up and don't fit our timeline for when we'll need guys like them to win playoff games.

those types of deals will be there for brogdon barring injury

I didn’t say that.
Glad you’re not teaching anyone reading comprehension, champ.

right good point.
I really misinterpreted what you meant by “Management thinking getting nothing is better than getting something”
Could you explain to me what you meant by that, champ?

Always thought it was weird the Thunder signed this guy. Hornets is an ideal place for him - he gets a free rein, plenty of PT, and the Hornets fans get an interesting player to watch. He's like a Jokic with half his body missing.

I honestly didn’t mind not trading Grant or Brogdon this deadline because it didn’t seem like the biggest trades have many 1sts attached, so it’s hard to know what was out there from a fan’s perspective.

What I AM bummed about is not getting to see the young guys get more minutes. I’ve slowly turned into a Kris Murray fan more and more as the season has gone on. He already was a very decent defender, I’ve noticed that since the beginning of the season. Once the confidence on his shot started growing, he’s looked very good to me. I was at the Pistons game and really wanted to see Kris get 20 after 10 first half points. I wasn’t even all that excited to see Grant get 49, I would’ve had a lot more fun seeing Kris have a break out game.

Bummer.

We'll never know what Joe could have got at this deadline but we know he got nothing. I'm sure the young players will get to play and the vets will get rest. This thread has come and gone and the only result is Dalano Banton and that's it.
