NBA warns Dame & his agent to stop asking for trade to just one team

You just compared Sharpe to Giannis and Michael Jordan. Not to mention Shaq?
You have a pretty long history of being over the top.
This might be one of those times sir.
No I was simply debunking your point that dunking doesn’t win championships.

Yeah the experts around the league think that Scoot's game is a lot like a mix of Derrick Rose as far as offensive skills and Russell Westbrook as far as physicality at his position. I would say that's pretty exciting since those are two MVP winners who won those MVPs on skill sets that Scoot seems to combine and neither of whom have Scoots vocal positivity and charismatic leadership. @kjironman1 didn't even spell Shaedon's last name correctly, so that's kind of problematic. Calling the guy only a dunker means that you haven't watched the dude shoot from distance or seen all of his very effective midrange game including an almost unguardable turnaround fadeaway. Also inside he's more of an elite finisher than just a dunker given how he finishes contested layups.

Also both of these guys show elite level mobility and at times tenacity on defense.
Sorry that I misspelled his name on my phone that probably spelled it for me?
Anyway seems you are also a bit overwhelmed with his talent to be reasonable in his progression. He’s a second year player that has shown some flashes of talent. I’ll give you that.

Well you put any of those players on this team I will agree with you. As it stands there are multiple players in the league that bring what Sharpe brings.

Sounds simple
It isn’t simple if you mean easy, but the Chip never is. It is straightforward in the sense the key is good talent scouts for drafts (we have this in spades!) and accumulating assets (Dame trade is very important). The hardest part IMO is finding good coaching. I still think we should try and lure Brad Stevens from the Celtics FO back into coaching. He’s the best who is pseudo available in the sense he’s not currently a head coach.

It's not a bad take at all.
Two problems i see here in all of this.
Joe is incompetent and can't seem to build a solid team without losing a bunch of games and getting luck in the lotto. Obviously that has not happened. They missed two years in a row. Seems like he will continue to lose until they get a good pick.

Second. Dame signed a huge extension and then asked out. He is not a free agent but still wants to dictate where he wants to go. Maybe he should have thought about that before signing the contract?
Hahahha wtf? We almost certainly got 2 of the best 3 players in the past two extremely stacked drafts!

Sharp could become a good player but dunking is not what wins in this league. I see nothing in Scoot that tells me he is special. Hoping he becomes a serviceable PG.
Damian Lillard consistently showed us the will to win in HUGE situations. Sharp and Scoot have not even got the team to those situations and are still years from ever doing so.
Are we going to start saying Scoot and Sharpe need quality pieces around them? Really?
Lmfao! You forgot green font! This is comedy gold though! Please continue with your comedy tight five, you’re killing it!

I find it very weird you've already counted out players because they can't get the team to situations that.... They haven't even been in.

That would be great if true? Problem is none of us know that. You certainly don’t know that. I know I don’t know that.

That isn’t what I said at all but we already know how your posts will go.
You will make an absolute statement and tell everyone there is no debate.
The statement I said is true. To this point we have seen nothing from these two.

Some of us can extrapolate from small sample sizes, scouting, eyeball test and gut. Some of us can't. We will see. Your take is 100% wrong and I'd bet money on Scoot being VASTLY better than "servicable" and we also already know that Sharpe is far, FAR more than "just a dunker" my take may end up being wrong, yours already is wrong.

Sure. You keep thinking that.
I see nothing about this team as it stands that is anything better that what it was 3 years ago. Worse now without Lillard but you keep drinking that kool aid and preaching that front office line.

You're talking about others putting words into people's mouths? I never said the team is better now than 3 years ago, I think our future is way brighter than it was then, but I didn't say that either. I debunked your patently false "Sharp (sic) is just a dunker" and the ridiculous hot take that Scoot will be "servicable" as a PG. I then contended that I also think we got 2 of the top 3 guys in the past two drafts. Your takes were demonstrably false (or ill informed in the case of Scoot) and your straw man is trash.

btw I'm bumping the fuck out of this thread when Scoot is tearing up the league by the end of the year and people are talking about Portland getting an absolute monster.

Have at it.
A lotto team that has a player putting up some stats in losses doesn’t impress.

Not to be argumentative, but this statement could apply to Dame as well. I know that is incendiary to many here. I know Dame was voted top 75 all time. I'm not hating on him. It is just a fact, that is all. Low hanging fruit.

but Dame put up big numbers on 54, 53, 51, & 49 win teams; on a back-to-back 3rd seed teams. He has won two playoff series with game winning buzzer beaters, more than anybody but MJ. He's one of the great clutch performers in NBA history. He's a 7 time all-star and a 7 time All-NBA player. He's proven, several times, he can carry a flawed, talent-challenged roster into the playoffs

it will be a long time before Scoot or Shaedon come anywhere close to that record

these aren't normal rookies,
it's impossible to count out an abnormality.

Dunking certainly isn't a precursor to winning a championship, but Shaedon was also a 36% 3-pt shooter as a 19 year old rookie. That is not bad at all. His eFG% was .551 as a 19 year old rookie. Dame's was .501 as a 22 year old rookie. It's way to early to tell, but for the opportunities Shaedon got, he didn't do too bad.

As for "Sharp and Scoot have not even got the team to those situations".....really? Scoot has been in the G-League and Sharpe was coming off the bench as a very young rookie. Come on, you're better than that. BTW, the Blazers record Dame's rookie year was 33-49. The Blazers had to TANK to get to 33-49 this year. Perhaps giving players way younger than Dame was as a rookie, a little time to produce might be in order.

Correct on all points. But so am I. Dame put up big numbers on a lotto team and that must not impress kjironman1 either. No agenda.

As @wizenheimer pointed out already. Dame went to the playoffs quite a bit. Not many Lotto teams there until this shitshow started.

Dame had some of his greatest moments in the playoffs. When these guys have got to the playoffs we can come back and revisit this conversation.
My bet is that is still a couple years away.

Why exactly are we having a conversation about someone who has proven success in the playoffs comparing that to 2 people who havent even had a chance to get there? Seems rather unfair to take a negative stance on players in that position. Whether you meant to or not, it's silly to take sides until they make it, no? And yes, you did take a side lol. Which is the weirdest part of it all.

Plenty of room to think your massively dismissing Scoot and Sharpe upside; while still believing the Blazers have done a shit job managing this franchise for many years.

It almost seems like your trying to discount Scoot Sharpe to prove the incompetency of the Blazers.

That's just not needed. Blazers have made many terrible decisions lately and have terrible ownership regardless of how great Scoot and Sharpe are.

Even if both Scoot and Sharpe become stars, it doesn't mean the Blazers are going to contend or anything. It does probably give evidence that the decision to build around those two and not sell the farm for a doomed to fail attempt of trying to contend with Lillard when it's far too late would've been a colossal mistake though.

Partially agreed. A 33 year old that did that for the Blazers the last two years made for a very boring team to root for.

If it's a 19 and 20 year old that have potential for many more improvements - I'll be much more optimistic.

I get that we have historically been challenged to pick up free agents. Have had to trade or draft. I am thinking in player retention of those we manage to get. I have to believe that even the new guys we picked up are watching and have been schooled by current roster on how the promises to build around Dame never came to fruition.
Portland can pay them the most. They'll take the money to stay.

You say this like they’ve never played basketball. Scoot’s been playing pro basketball the last two years. I trust the scouts.
