Negativity, especially in game threads

There are people who are inherently positive, and I don't think there's any problem. There are people who are full on Homers.... and again, for the most part, there is no problem. Then there is Kingspeed. He is a whole other breed of homer.

I think I tend to be more negative in game threads, but that's mostly me bitching about the refs because I hate the refs.... and the NBA.... I hate the NBA.

When I'm watching the games, if something great happens, I tend to be too busy jumping up and down. If something bad happens, like a horrible call, I just want to vent. This place is my release valve for anger towards the game. It's cathartic.

The seasons in the past where we were SUPPOSED to win 50+ games and we actually DID, the games threads were EXACTLY the same. They haven't changed at all. We would beat the Suns by 12 and there would be people on here freaking out that we didn't win by 20!

I used to be blown away and ask how in the hell you could be negative about ANY aspect of a 12 point win on the road and people would crack on me for being a homer. I'll never forget NateBiship called me out once on here saying my opinion doesn't hold much credibility because I NEVER post anything negative about the team. That I was too much of a homer.

Now this season we were SUPPOSED to suck and we DIDN'T and I get called out by all these nerds about being so negative.

Suck it up, and get over yourself. This place will never change and that's why I love coming on here! There will always be those who are negative regardless and those who are positive regardless and hopefully those like myself who's opinions and expectations will change with each roster move.

But all this bullshit about people's feeling getting hurt because others opinions aren't the same as yours? Grow a pair or find a new hobby....... #GETTHEFUCKKOUTTAHEREWITHTHATSHITFAMS!

Fantastic post Fams...all I wanna know is, Who wrote it for you?

Opinions are like lips and assholes, everyone has got them and they are all different

I would have no way of knowing that but I'll take your word for it CC...that's quite a research project to undertake:)

It's all down to perspective.
Just because someone has a different view/take on a situation to yourself - doesn't automatically make them wrong.
Just because you deem your own opinion as right (and positive), doesn't make someone elses wrong (and negative).

As in life, it's not black and white, but all shades of grey in-between.
Whatever happened to freedom of speech, and people defending the right of another to hold differing opinions.

Homers and Neg Nancys UNITE!

I agree that the game threads can be hard to take. There are a couple of you who just love trolling the shit out of the game threads. So weird.

What people dont understand is that those people like doing it because some of you guys get so riled up i think they actually would meet up at mt tabor.

And that goes for the positive people and negative people.

It all deals with perception. I know there have been times when ive posted and meant nothing bad whatsoever, and a positive person gets offended. We all see shit differently. Ive been a die hard blazer fan since i was 4 and ive had people try to call out my fandom over the decades of posting with you guys.

Tldr; grow a pair and stop being so affected by what nerds post in their moms basements.

One thing that I've noticed is that the ones who went to the Meet and Greets or the Suite game this year are nicer and more friendly to others that attended.

Really? I havent noticed that myself.

If you stop complaining about HCPs mythical bet, and the way you talked about him, you have zero room to talk about how other people post or their behavior issues.

Also, people sometimes confuse criticism with negativity, and roll them into the same thing.
People get so defensive of the team over any criticism.

When people who are close to you are fucking up - do you just put on the rose glasses and let them continue on - or do you tell them straight up whats going on (from your perspective).

For me the Blazers are like a family member, and if I see them fucking up, I'm going to pull them up on it. Not because I'm being negative, but because I care about them being better.

The whole point for me is that those very criticisms should translate to post game threads rather than distract from a live game..the old original trailblazer.com game threads worked and actually had a more diverse gender base and the mods kept the arguments out of the game thread for the most part..felt more like being at a game with a group of fans...problem here is it's just too often unpleasant to experience a game that way no matter how cathartic venting may seem...it sort of ruins the party for many.

I agree that when a point is bashed over and over it does detract from the game threads.
And that goes equally for both ends of the scale, overly negative and overly critical.
Unfortunately one tends to elicit the other.

It's a bit much to ask people to keep their comments on an in-game action till after the game in my opinion.

But bottom line is - everyone is entitled to their opinion, if it is stated reasonably. The game thread is not set-up to suit any one persons tastes individually. What you deem criticism may be a neutral observation for someone else.

If someone is de-railing a thread - then that is the job of the moderators to address.

yeah...I get the logic of it all..I deleted that post after thinking..I just don't have to think about it after all...I can choose to not pay attention anytime.

Yep. Focus on your likes rather than your dislikes. It's all ice cream when you're at that point. :cool2:

Just one question..... if I can't be my wonderfully dysfunctional-but-reasonable self in sports forums, then where the hell left on earth is there?

Do you guys want me practice Mindfulness and Trigger Sensitivity whenever LaMarcus or San Antonio come up?

Ya'Know...... oh damnit!
