my guess is that was the first report and wasn't accurate about the 2nd year. Likely Portland wanting a team option and Curry wanting a player option or none...so they just agreed on a 1 year deal

But Woj wasn’t the only one that reported two year deal.

Probably one of those things that was agreed to initially during the moratorium, and then altered once it was time to actually submit the deal to the league office.

Are the Blazers the only team with more than one bad contract? Bad contracts are part of sports (or at least the NBA). Some of them are awful and prevent a team from getting better (like Turner's); some of them are just small "oopsies" that eventually go away (like Meyers'). Meyers' contract was worse earlier, but as we near the final year of it it's nearly inconsequential.

As I've already stated, I'm not concerned with Meyers' (or Moe's) contract. Getting rid of them won't make us better. I'd probably dump Meyers if we could get rid of him without attaching any assets - but it'd be purely for financial reasons, not because it'd make us better. At this point - despite how much I dislike Turner - I probably wouldn't even include a pick to dump him.

It was a yes or no question. Your point doesn’t really stand if the answer is no.

You do realize that you are inviting for this to become another bash Olshey thread of which there have been more than enough posts already. As a mod, I hope you keep an eye on this and not let it go to the trash like so many other threads.
I'll only bash Olshey one time: he sucks...should have been fired long ago...king of snake oil....hate him
You let yourself be intimidated by CupWizier's whiny excuses.

Bob Whitsit? The constraint that Whitsit operated under is completely different to today;s constraints. it was way easier to build a contender back then as long as you had an owner with deep pockets. Nowdays, deep pockets has many limitations. No comparison.
Bullshit. There are many small market NBA teams. Our GM is the only one who lacks the talent to make trades.

CJ + Swanigan for Beal
I was joking, as it seems very unlikely, but then there is this:
With that said, the Wizards are, by any measure, a swollen reddened mess of egos and blame-shifting. They shipped out temperamental big man Marcin Gortat over the summer because his relationship with John Wall had completely soured. Bradley Beal and Wall clearly don’t like each other and aren’t a great on-court fit, which exacerbates the problem. In late November, there was a Royal Rumble-style practice tiff in which Wall yelled at Jeff Green and Scott Brooks, Beal denigrated GM Ernie Grunfeld while beefing with Austin Rivers, and Kelly Oubre cussed out Brooks. All of this happened in the midst of a three-game winning streak. That’s next-level toxicity. Oubre and Rivers have since been traded.
and this:
John Wall, in shutting himself down for the season with a heel injury, is technically putting the Washington Wizards out of their misery, but that’s a this-year-only thing. His new contract (four years, $169 million) hasn’t kicked in yet, and that’s going to be a source of despair for some time.

Does "Stuck with Wall" + "Beal and Wall don't like each other" = "Beal for CJ"?

Not obviously no. Note: Beal and CJ make basically the same amount.

I just Liked this---its THIRTEENTH Like. So how about adding that option, Mod? Or maybe one more serious, like, "Why doesn't this prick Olshey jump into a grave and die." Then everyone can change his choice to that one.
I lucked into seeing this thread early on.

I don’t have much faith in olshey at all. We have needed another wing for a while now and he probably won’t look to get it. Last couple years Neil just sits on his hands or maybe it’s our lack of assets which is why cj really needs to go but once again it won’t happen because of Neil and his ridiculous idea to keep this back court together. Would of been possible if summer of 2016 signings never happened but at this point cj needs to be traded. Not at the deadline but in general

I rejected that suggestion for cause, and already explained why. Begone peasant!
