Neil Olshi**y's Summer

The market dictates value, not affinity.

Stotts cutting Aminus minutes isn’t realistic.

And you still haven’t addressed the basketball reasons behind dumping Ed.

You can be mad with Olshey about a thousand other things, literally, but his reasoning in regards to Ed is pretty logical.

There aren't any basketball reasons. You always need an Ed type on your team. Olshey is stupid. There's no logic at all.

bro I disagree....and Ed was my favorite Blazer behind Dame....there are basketball reasons if you look at it objectively. Ed may very well become an allstar with the Nets and even get a starting role....he said before last season he wanted to start..this was not an opportunity for him to do that. Even the Nets only gave him a one year deal

You guys better brace yourself for Meyers seeing more playing time...hopefully he can start this season without the stigma and raise his trade value. I'm personally going to cheer for him to contribute

Neil is very well connected and from all I've read still a gym rat....how many GMs are still gym rats? Dame said Neil spends more time in the gym than any GMs in the league...he's a player's GM from my view

I'll be shocked if he doesn't get more playing time. It would be nice if fans would be supportive, but I'm not holding my breath on that. Every minute mistake Meyers makes will lead to cat calls; while other players will fuck up with near impunity. Such is the human condition.

He's Mr. Hustle.
He is that.....and a good leader....understanding why he changed teams has nothing to do with his value ...everyone values Ed....there was no diss in the way things worked out...

The fact you don't know this is probably why we're debating this.

He's Mr. Hustle.

You said every team needs an Ed Davis. To me Davis is a bench big, great rebounder, can finish around the rim, good help defender, average man defense, especially against other centers, limited perimeter defense, very limited offensive contribution, and no spacing ability.

So,

Who was Golden States Ed Davis?

Who was Houston’s Ed Davis?

Who was OKCs Ed Davis?

Who was New Orleans Ed Davis?

I mean I’d rather not go on..

You shouldn't go on when you're so wrong anyway.
You're looking at skillset and I'm talking about roles.
The hustle guy also usually gets the most offensive rebounds.

Green is GSW's hustle guy.

Capella

Adams

Cousins did it for NO.

Every time team needs a couple glue guys, that are very good at playing the roles their team needs from them it may pop in different statistical categories but all of those teams had those kind of guys.
GS had Draymond, McGee, jBell, and David West.
Houston had PJ Tucker, and Trevor Aroza.
New Orleans had Rondo and Mirotic.
OKC has Roberson before the injury, and it showed after he got hurt that it hurt that teams defense.
Sure they may not all of have been 6th men or offensive rebounders but they are all non stats that are good enough at one or two things it takes pressure off the stars to have to carry the team all the time.

You listed four bonafide starters, none as limited as Davis btw, but I’m the one that’s wrong?

“Hustle guy” what does that even mean? Offensive rebounds? None of those teams I listed had a bench big who specialized in rebounding, yet they somehow all still survived. Seems like the rest of the league is ok without having Ed Davis as well.

What about Okafor? i need something to hang on to this season and IT CANT BE Mayers Leonard!

The only thing we have left to look forward to are two way contracts. That’ll be the highlight of the summer.

Did you just say that? Who's Mr Hustle? Did you play basketball?

Ever go to basketball camp? Mr. Hustle is an award....

I like when people pivot to condescension. Let’s me know the conversation is over.

You asked a stupid question, I gave a stupid answer.

Who's Mr hustle is a stupid question.

We can't just merge all this shit together?
I know it's the offseason, there's little to talk about, and that every thread essentially runs together, but still. I know there isn't like a limit to threads or anything, just seems unnecessary. But fuck it, maybe I'll just start a new thread with every thought that comes in my head, and push them off the front page?

I agree with a lot of that, but I am calling foul on the Spurs comment. The Spurs lost Kawhi a year ago, Parker has very little tread left on the tires, and Green is not even close to as valuable as DeRozan.
Nope, if you are including last summer's acquisitions, some of which didn't work out at all, then you can't use hindsight for the Spurs because no one thought Kawhi would be sitting out for pretty much the entire year and then wanting to be traded.

Try telling someone in the summer of 2017 that the Spurs would trade Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green for DeMar DeRozan, Jacob Poeltl, and a top-20 protected 1st rounder. The entire universe would be killing the Spurs for that trade.

:dunno: The question (in my mind) is whether the Spurs will be a better team than they were last season (when they had neither Kawhi nor DeRozan) - not would they be better with Kawhi than with DeRozan.
