<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">UNDER CONTRACT
HASSAN ADAMS: Provided sparks at a few stages during the season, but wasn't able to sustain it. He must improve his all-around game to be a rotation player.
JOSH BOONE: Maybe if he didn't miss five months following shoulder surgery he could have helped the Nets sooner. But Boone showed some positive signs with his ability to score on pick-and-rolls. He has to get stronger, improve his defense and rebounding, develop a post game and work on his foul shooting.
JASON COLLINS: He's built for the playoffs because you see his value when he's battling the Chris Bosh's and Zydrunas Ilgauskas' of the NBA. The Nets need more production at his position, though. They will look to deal him, but his $12.3 million owed him over the next two seasons might be tough to move.
MILE ILIC: He might not be a part of the long-term answer here. In fact, he could be elsewhere by late summer via a trade or buyout.
RICHARD JEFFERSON: Improved his trade value with his playoffs after hobbling through much of the regular season. The Nets don't want to move him, per se, but know an up-and-coming, versatile athlete with a reasonable contract could get them some pieces. They're shooting primarily for a big.
JASON KIDD: Had his second-best season as a Net and some special playoff moments. The Nets won't move him unless the right deal comes along ? they will get calls ? and that right deal has to include Steve Nash. No Kidd and suddenly all of the Nets' players take a step back, and so do the Nets. Their only concern is how tired Kidd will be after playing for Team USA this summer.
NENAD KRSTIC: One of the missing pieces expects to be back from ACL surgery by training camp. He's running already, so things are looking good. The Nets can give him an extension and probably should. They can lock him up for less now as opposed to if he has a good season and is free next summer. They'll likely wait until October to decide.
BOSTJAN NACHBAR: He became a solid sixth man who posterized some big players (Tim Duncan, Elton Brand, Samuel Dalembert) and knocked down big shots. Value is high so he could be used in a trade, but he's going into a contract year. Nachbar won't play for Slovenia this summer so he can rest and be ready for next season.
BERNARD ROBINSON: Never got a shot here, and may not. But his contract expires after next season. He could be trade bait or someone the Nets just keep and let walk.
MARCUS WILLIAMS: Showed flashes of brilliance, but too often Williams wasn't what coach Lawrence Frank wanted in Kidd's backup. Williams can get in the paint on anyone. His decision making, shot selection and defense need work. This is a big summer for him, as far as basketball, conditioning and understanding what's expected of him if he's here.
ANTOINE WRIGHT: He never lost confidence despite being in and out of the lineup. He stood out in the playoffs with his defense on LeBron James. That helped him in the organization's eyes and may have lifted his trade value.
OPTIONS
VINCE CARTER: According to Rod Thorn, "It appears as if he's headed for free agency." That sounds as if the Nets prez doesn't think he can sign Carter to an extension before June 30 and expects him to opt out of the $16.3 million owed him. The Nets can offer him the most money and probably will ? owner Bruce Ratner wants him back ? unless someone surprises them. Carter should be back unless the almighty dollar and being close to his family ? he said that isn't a factor ? weigh heavily in his decision. Jefferson's future and other moves will depend on Carter.
CLIFFORD ROBINSON: Uncle Cliffy is a great guy, and locker room guy, but doesn't appear to fit in the Nets' future plans. He was a bench fixture late, which was a surprise. He'll get a $500,000 parting gift when they decide not to pick up his option. But he wants to play somewhere next season.
FREE AGENTS
MIKKI MOORE: The Nets should try and re-sign him to bolster their bench and provide energy as a backup. Everyone wants Moore back, but the Nets won't overspend for him. They will see what the marketplace calls for on athletic, well-traveled, 7-foot centers who had his best season playing with Kidd and Carter. This has buyer beware written all over it because he fits nicely with Kidd and Carter, but may not with a different backcourt. Figure three years, $10-$14 million range, maybe four years for about $15 mil.
EDDIE HOUSE: He was the shooter the Nets always wanted, but couldn't stay healthy. He wants to come back and some in the organization want that, but his lack of defense could be a snag.</div>
