Nets desperate to fill seats?

I got this in an email yesterday and it made me a little sad to see that this is how Jersey has wound up.

They're offering ticket packs of 1 ticket, 1 hot dog and 1 soda for only $15.

All the Nets fans must have flocked to the Garden.

The Nets rarely had sell outs during the regular season, when they were championship contenders over the past 3 seasons. Most fans waited to the playoffs start to packing the building. So it should be expected that fan/attendance drop off is going to be even more, now that they arent championship contenders.

Plus the Arena is in the middle of nowhere. And extremely hard for people outside of Jersey to get access too. Me personally I havent seen a Nets game in person since 97-98, I went to a couple games that year, mainly to see Sammy. But other than that I love the Nets but living in the Bronx, its difficult to get access. I have hop on the train head down to grand central station. And then hop on the train to take me to Jersey. And nobody(as in my boys etc) wants to drive across the bridge & pay the $4.00 to cross the bridge + gas prices. So just catch the game at crib on the tube.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom and I took the turnpike to Jersey for a game there. The parking was horrible, the arena was gross and our seats were awful. Bah.

That is why Bruce Ratner is pulling out all stops to get the team to BK. The Nets even with a heavy championship contender will never have a successful fan attendance in that building. Location is horrible and the building itself is below average by todays arena standards. Even with their whole new plan to recruit fans to the games, they are still going to have a hard time people in there. I heard that in addition to this new ticket plan that you mentioned. The Nets also came up with something that allows season ticket holders to get an additional 20 free tickets to certain games.

What the Nets really should do is send certain players maybe their more popular players like Richard Jefferson, Eric William's a hometown hero etc around to the local schools in New Jersey. And give away free tickets to certain games. And get the younger audinence to the games like the 14-18 age group. Kids in that age group are always looking to get into something. If you give out free tickets to a few games. then you may get that age group to come back & pay next time because I dont think the Nets are going to get the older, working crowd to come to their games. Given the travel & the fact that everyone in the area over 21 is usually a Knicks fan given their history. So the Nets need to target the younger teenage crowd as a fan base.
