Anybody that try’s stopping me better have a way bigger knife, or a gun.
you've apparently never studied self defense....doesn't matter how big you are....you have knees and ankles that will snap with very little force....you think you can slash 10 throats without being stopped, you didn't go to my high school......you might kill someone but you wouldn't succeed with me...I'd put my weight on your ankles and snap crackle pop.....you'll not be walking anymore......don't even need a knife...it's not that hard to take a knife from someone if you know a bit of self defense.....it is hard to take an assault weapon from someone firing from distance however.....I could take away your knife with a gym towel

Ugh. Crazy. I'll take my chances with a knife vs gun.
And I’m my opinion, I’ll take my chances with a gun, over a homemade bomb, a huge truck trying to run me over, someone walking up behind me with a knife silently, someone throwing gasoline on me then lighting me on fire (which just happened recently at Denny’s by the CTC).

Not to mention any of the 20,000 flamethrowers that Elon Musk just put out in the market.

If you inhale fire for just a second you’re lungs and throat will swell up and you’ll die before you make it to a hospital.

River, come on. A guy with a knife is one of the most dangerous things to confront. I wont even get into personal experience, military training or martial arts. Going to keep it simple. The threat of a guy with a knife is so high that law enforcement are taught to stay at least twenty feet away, and if there is no compliance and further threat, they are allowed to use deadly force.

Pal, with all due respect, the "One summer at band camp" stories, do not hold water.

you're not killing all these kids if you can't easily access a weapon
>>> Never let an incident go to waste.

the chances that a responsibly armed person will thwart a mass shooting in a public place is not really realistic in this country
>>>> You do realize, armed guards are in the Moda Center for a reason? The Court House. City Hall, actual quite a few places. Except the Schools!
Do we leave them as Killing Field for a reason? Does this server some agenda unknown to some of us?

you can tranquilize a bear in the top of a tree, you can tranq a kid in a classroom
>>> This one is really humorous. I have used one on my ranch, not quite what you think. The velocity of the dart is about like a 90mph fast ball.
It certainly can be dodged, or defelted easily. The bear in the tree got himself in a bad spot, can't dodge, can't run, just got to hang there and take it.
Then count the second until the bear falls out of the tree. Uh oh! Too fucking long! If it were a shooter, he would get your ass and dump the rest of the magazine into the kids you failed to do shit to protect. Damn Man! That's fools plan!!

fellow citizens
>>> Respected citizen know and respect the rule of law under our Constitution.

you're really hung up on these left and right descriptions...even though they don't mean jack shit
>>>>Wow! You need to explain the differences between the Progressive Democrat Left and everyone else that appreciates the rule of law under the Constitution with a bit more than "don't mean jack shit".

Now, just in case I missed it, Do you think we should just let this killing of school children continue? Do you have a workable solution?

I was gonna bring up the 20 ft thing... but I said fuck it.

All we need to protect our school are old men with gym towels, and ankle stomps.

If you are talking about a trained martial arts expert.....sure..but a guy with a knife is not as dangerous to you as a guy with an automatic weapon from a safe distance...and if you've studied martial arts...you know how to defend against a knife....it's taught in self defense classes all over the world.....a kung fu master with a knife is not an angry teenager in Jr High School......I'm addressing civilian conflict here...not trained seal team combat..how to disable an attacker is also taught in self defense class...even a small woman can stop an attack with the proper training...band camp ....this I don't know about.....school fights, bar fights.. I've seen my share..a well place kick to the ankle can make a giant crumble to the ground in agony...

Damn man! I wish you had been my partner on SP duty, when that guy threaten to cut me from pecker to chin! I would have passed him off to you in a heart beat. No doubt in my mind.

Did you have a towel on you?

Or simple fix to disarm a knife weilder, just stomp on his ankle! (Don’t actually go for the knife, it’s the ankles you wanna go for).

He will immediately drop the knife. That’s taught all over the world.

I'm told it's easy to rush the guy and disarm him.

Bud, of course a gun is more of a threat than a knife, but that was not what you were talking about. And all the verbiage you supplied about trained fighters has no bearing on the conversation, that is why I made a point of stating that I would avoid that question.

This I will allow, the first thing I was taught is that your first mistake in facing someone with a knife, is being dumb enough to put your self in that position. Someone is going to be hurt or killed.

This is why I went with standard law enforcement rules of engagement. There is zero delineation or variance of response based upon personally perceived threat. The Reason for that is that level of competence can not be judged ahead of a conflict. To do so would place your self in more danger.

I'm no master but I do understand self defense...and some martial arts...contrary to what Dalincoln said...I'd rather face a hand to hand combat than a spray of bullets anyday. My wife also took self defense courses on my recommendation.....guys I went to school with fought all the time....hand to hand...my son never had to experience that in school

In a crowded hallway/store/festival/anything- I’m slashing at least 10 throats before anybody realizes what’s going on. After that, I’m pretty fucking big and athletic, I can chase down and stab in the throat just about anybody that isn’t a track athlete.

Anybody that try’s stopping me better have a way bigger knife, or a gun.

I would have been able to do that from middle school onwards.

Its also hilarious that you think it would be so easy to just grab someone with a knife without catching a few stabs or slices and getting yourself killed lol.

We should try it out, and I’ll use a fork instead.

So you think if you were slashing throats, people would come at you one by one continuously.
Someone has been watching too much wwe/hollywood movies.

I never said a knife wasn't dangerous.
I simply said it would be DAMN HARD to not have kids start screaming in a SCHOOL, which would alert others to whats going on. Which would prevent you from getting the surprise on soooo many people like you believe you could.
You get charged by one person, you might be able to get them. But everyone else in the hallway is getting away.
You're not usain bolt.
My freshman year in high school I had a PR of under 11s 100m.
If you know anything about track, that's far from a star. That's an average track athlete in Oregon.

But it's okay. I understand you think this is you.
While everyone on this board who doesn't think they're immortal is having the same reaction as Jasmine.

that's if it's a one on one threat....if I'm a teacher or on a subway and there's a knife attack...I'd do whatever it took to save my students lives..harms way...not ideal to have to fight period, but when there's little choice...you do what you can

People would be shitting in their pants, scared.

Yep. Just ask the guys who rushed the neo-Nazi on the MAX last year. Took him out with no problem, right?

Hmm, 3 people.
That's about on par with what I said.
2-3 people before you are mostlikely unable to do more damage due to people starting to be aware of whats going on.
Where as you can be aware that someone is shooting up a school, but there aint shit you can do to get away from a bullet.

Don't worry though. @Nate is going to chase everyone down when he attacks a school and get all those kids.
His body count will be in the thousands. He's soooo efficient with a knife.

Yeah, I respect you for that. I believe you would. You sound like you have the training to be confident enough to engage, while most would only get them selves hurt.

key point: nobody is saying knives aren't dangerous. so stop with the 'yeah but they can slash a throat'. We get it. Knives = bad.

But a kid walks into a school with an AR15 or whatever thing they have and start firing vs. a knife. The fact this is a debate is unreal.

People would be shitting in their pants, scared.

Just like they were with a school shooting.
But there were still people who laid down their lives for others.
A kid held a door so others could get out.
A teacher and a coach saved kids.
Give me a break, if you really think no one would act on a fucking stabbing suspect.
Then you are pretty delusional, or trolling.

And your thoughts on flamethrowers?????

The mass stabbings in schools worldwide often include 20+ victims and 5+ murdered.

Whatever you're arguing doesn't fit what actually happens.

How about we do the obvious and prevent kids from walking into schools with guns and knives and flamethrowers?

If Disneyland can do it without freaking the parents and kids out, the schools can too.

The fact that this is a debate is unreal and speaks to poor judgement and ideas.
