Okay, but hitting coaches now have assistants?
Jeez, they should just pay me a few bucks and I'll let the batters know when they are chasing bad pitches and fouling themselves up by taking too many good pitches and falling behind in the count.

Assistant batting coach? Assistant batting coach?

Its now vogue for hitting coaches to have asst. No issue there as long as the coach had input in thecasst selections.

Let the Jeff Pentland era begin. Long was over rated....he probably had diet on Jeter which is why he kept his job so long. I predict we hit .280 as a team in 2015 now. #28 here we come, whew the wait is over.

I bet in but a couple of years, they will have their own Manicurist too. Can't show how to swing the bat with a Hang Nail.
Next: Assistants for Assistants.:evilfire:

NTM: every Mgr. needs at least 3 Asst., Mgr's. and that don't count the Bench Coach, he needs an assistant too.

Next thing ya' know the entire Coaching Staff will look like this:

Or like this:
:smiley-family:

#1 Compared to who?

#2 You're funny

This thing really needs a sarcasm font. :mob:

No offense Tom but with your recent history its hard to tell when your joking or being serious. a winking icon would've helped.

Oooooohhhhhh. I'll use italics for sarcasm now to make it easier on you.

...as far as I know, PEDs have not been banned for use by coaches. :devilwink:

Don't forget the chauffeurs and washroom attendants.

Only if they also take PEDs.
You mean like a cup of Coffee with all its caffeine, a bottle of Gatorade with all that high grade fructose, sucrose, or a simple Coca-Cola, now thats serious PED, for me at least....

I was reading an article a while back, which I can kick my ass for NOt bookmarking, which talked of Hank Aaron one time taking an amphetamine, and "how he didn't like what it did to him", went on to talk about Mantle's treatments in the Hospital in 61, and some other shit, I meant to post, but cannot find at this moment.....

A Toll House Cookie is a PED, and in Caly it can be legally made with a different kind of butter, CO., AZ, OR, WA, too, hell even GA. and quit a few other locales....

In all seriousness, the basis of MLB program, USADA (WADA) are monitoring caffeine and nicotine in 2015. Not too many monitored substances that didn't end up being classified as PEDs.

Just beware, that coworker grabbing coffee and a cigarette before the meeting is trying to cheat, lol!

I guess it's good I cut back from my pot of coffee a day habit to ~1/2 a pot of coffee a day...

...big difference between substances that help enable someone to get into the game vs substances that give them an unfair advantage once they are in the game.

I know what you are trying to say, I get that. But these agencies don't split hairs....its all the same to them. Asthma meds same as hGH, come on. That's why I'm pointing out the caffeine and nicotine nonsense. I feel bad for kids today.

...I agree tote, but like I've said several times, the "program" is a work in progress and is better than not having one at all.

...Now, instead of "looking the other way", if MLB and MLBPA had addressed the problem back in the 90's like they should have, I think things would be a little different today and some of the players who were caught in the PEDs net, may have been deterred enough that they may never have cheated and subsequently, never have been caught.

...unfortunately, we don't have a time machine...I'm just pointing out that the problem could/should have been addressed much sooner.

Full agreement. Unfortunately Selig got caught up in all the "Chicks dig the long ball" hoopla like the rest of us, even crediting McGwire & Sosa HR chase of 98 for saving the game.
