New Quick Hint: All Star?

My guess is Baron Davis and they are trying to find a third team to take Joel's contract with Andre going to the Clips.

I saw one of those the other week at a local junkyard. I was taken aback by just how much of a piece of shit it was. The toy Le-car I had as a kid wasn't that shitty..but probably had as much horsepower.

I believe if you are incorrect on that. You do your talking through the team the player still belongs to. Teams that these players are under contract can still sign a new deal with these guys any time they want. They can also carry the communication of intention to the players agent for sign and trades to take place. So for instance, we would talk to Toronto and tell them we were interested in Bosh for sign and trade, and give them our proposal. They would then approach the agent and propose the deal and location of the trade, and see if they will bite. As long as the Blazers don't have direct contact with the player, there is no tampering.

The players team can communicate with the player, and agent, but other teams can't. That is why Kerr and Mark Cuban already got fined for just suggesting they want LeBron. KP can't start working out a sign and trade for July 1 with a free agent. Do teams break the rules, probably, but it is a risk if you get caught( loss of draft picks, fines etc). If KP is working on a blockbuster deal with a Allstar around the draft, it will not be Bosh, LeBron, Joe Johnson, Amare, or Wade. Parker, Iggy, Grange, Paul are under contract and can be traded for. Others please chime in if I am right or wrong.

I think it's ridiculous to think Monty wouldn't have taken the New Orleans job had he known CP3 was going to be traded. I would bet any thing that CP3's playing status in New Orleans wasn't even discussed during the interview process. A head coaching job for Monty is a step he would have taken with any team, under any circumstance, IMO. I know he was somewhat coveted, but the dude was New Orleans SECOND choice. Not their first. New Orleans trading CP3 has NOTHING to do with Monty taking their HC job.

I say it's CP3 or Nash. Kerr bounced for more reasons than just wanting to take an easier job broadcasting. Amare is gonzo, and Phoenix will go in to rebuild mode. They would deal Nash.

Nash or CP3 could likely save KP's job as well. That's my guess.

I'd easily take Dre over Baron any day. That's not a good deal at all.

I take Baron since he is three years younger and a threat from 3. I also think having someone that is less of a loner at PG would be beneficial.

Mo Williams doesn't really fit the "big time all-star" Quick has labeled the payer as being, but nonetheless, Mo Williams is a guy I believe is the perfect fit next to Brandon Roy, and is exactly what Nate McMillan wants. Certainly makes a lot of sense.

The more and more i think about it - Mo williams

Having watched Mo in CLE very closely in the past two years, I hope not. Dre might not have Williams' shot, but he's way smarter, and is a better teammate.

I imagine KP goes to Paul and says hey, I swapped Andre Miller for Mo Williams! P.A.'s going to roll his eyes and fire him. He'd say who gives a shit. He's a marginal upgrade, a better shooter, but worse on the blocks. Our soft jump shooting team just added another. You wonder why you're being fired?! And then Wark would have to trade Mo for Baron Davis, and Davis for Chris Paul to right the ship.

(Spends 5 glorious seconds dreaming of Deron as a Blazer, then snaps back to reality)

I don't know what Quick is smoking/shooting/snorting/rubbing into his bellybutton, but this is getting borderline laughable.

The blazers couldn't talk to LeBron or Bosh, but the Cavs and Raptors can, so why is it so unbelievable that the team could work out a sign-and-trade before July 1st?

Kp talks to Colangelo

Colangelo talks to Bosh.

Bosh says he would sign with the Blazers if the deal was max.

Blazers and Raptors work out a deal that the Raptors are happy with.

Everyone is happy.

I think Brand's contract is big, but he's a better player than Juwan Howard and is only 30. Some people have said Brand didn't fit well in Philly's system - he might do pretty well in Nate's scheme.

14/6 in 30 minutes with a 15.1 PER vs. Howard's 6/4.6 in 22 minutes with a 10.0 PER.

Portland played Howard a lot of games (73) and a lot of minutes in those games.

I'd be 100% on-board with acquiring Brand and the #2 for Joel/Webster/Rudy... whether the Blazers took Turner or Favors, it would give us a potential star to add to our team AND an upgrade, as you stated Denny, at the backup big guy spot.

While the trade rumor most certeintly could be surrounded around the #2 pick, I still don't think that saves KP's job. While having a potential stud in Turner or Favors is good, they are just that though, coming into the NBA, potential. So I don't think management want to go through potential over a proven all star vet. While it would be awesome for KP to pull it off, don't think it saves him.

I fear you might be right. The worst part of having KP on the chopping block is that he might be trying to save his job, rather than what's the best move for the franchise in the long run...

No kidding. Mo Williams would make me pretty pissed off at both KP (for damaging the Blazers) and PA (for signing off on something so stupid). We've got enough "Houdinis" pulling disappearing acts in the playoffs already, we don't need more.

Rumor is they turned down Prince, Villanueva and #7 for Brand and #2. I don't think Joel, Martell and Rudy gets us close.

Villenueva is a negative. He's worse than useless and has a long contract. If the Pistons could offer just Prince and the #7 and absorb the rest, I bet Philly jumps at it.

Maybe so. Just saying our offer is nowhere close, IMO.

I think we're looking at Bosh. LMA and Bayless for Bosh and Calderon.

We keep Rudy.

Then, we make a move trading Pryz, Webster, Pendergraph and our #22 pick for Brand and Philly's #2 pick, selecting Turner.

This keeps KP's job!

Miller / Calderon
Roy / Rudy / Turner
Batum / Cunningham
Bosh / Brand / Howard?
Camby / Oden

OK, this made me laugh. You have the second overall pick as the team's third string shooting guard, behind Rudy?

LMA and Bayless isn't enough for Bosh, let alone him AND Calderon.

adding a rookie isn't saving KP's job.
