Supposedly:

. Jason Quick said on the O-Live chat, KP is working on a deal to bring in an all star...a deal that is so sweet there is no way Paul Allen could turn it down or fire him.

Quick says, "I think the Blazers are another all star player away from contending for a championship. Portland is much closer to that than many fans think." In the context of the conversation, it is clear he means that KP is working on a deal to bring in a big time all star. Quick says the deal, if it happens, will happen before or on the draft.

Sounds dubious. But, on the outside chance there's a rumored deal for an actual all-star, who would it be? My guess: Andre Iguodala.

I'm not holding my breath...heard this before...will believe when it actually happens...

Iggy does not make sense at all. We have our SF and SG already.

Conflating what Quick thinks the team needs and what Quick thinks KP can do is a mistake. It'll be interesting to see what happens...

Ed O.

Maybe CP3. They want to save $$$$$$ and Collison showed he could handle the pressure. Sorry Monty!

CP3 is absolutly Ludicrous....

Monty would have never taken that job he didnt know for certain that Paul would stay....

Unless he knew for certain he'd be getting two or three of his boys from Portland in return...

Without having considered the financial matters, maybe something like Aldridge Harris. And then trade Przy, Dre, and pieces (everyone but Roy/Nic/GO) for a S&T PF (Lee, Amare, Boozer, or Bosh).

That would be amazing.

IMO, Harris/Parker/Iggy do not quality as being that player to save KP's job. It has to be someone bigger.

My guess is Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire. The reason being, everybody knows Bosh won't be back to Toronto, but will want a max deal so that means sign and trade. The reasoning behind Stoudemire is that he has said he doesn't think he will be back since Kerr left. One of them will join Wade in Miami or go to Chicago. The other, will go somewhere else.

Why this can't be right: free agency doesn't start soon enough. Pritchard's only got until the draft.

I'm sure that Quick is right that Pritchard is doing everything in his power to come up with a "too good to pass up" kind of deal that Paul Allen will have to sign off on, and will protect KP's job for years to come. But that's what every GM in the league tries to do every year - and at the same time, GMs are trying to make sure no other team makes that kind of move at their expense.

I think it's big time wishful thinking to say that KP is going to line up a trade for an all-star. Would he like to? Sure. But is he going to come up with a proposal that brings in that kind of talent, that doesn't give up too many important pieces? That's always the challenge.

I'll be happy if something comes through, but I'm not holding my breath.

Not without the NBA investigating tampering charges. Teams can't talk to agents or players until July 1st. Players can't keep their mouths shut. Twitter, facebook or something would come out. Won't be a Bosh, Amare, LeBron or Wade. I think Chris Paul, Iggy, or Tony Parker are more realistic, even though it would be tough to get any of those three without losing Batum IMO. Parker is probably our best shot, but he would be expensive. They won't dump him for expiring contracts only and Rudy is not a Popovich kind of player.

They're bringing Dale Davis out of retirement.

My best guess is Tony Parker, which would be a nice addition.

I think it'd have to be a 3 team deal, because our best asset (for trading purposes) is a reason why the spurs might be trading Parker. Andre Miller.

I just hope it's not a Jamaal Magloire type all-star.
