Again, he said nothing untrue or vulgar to Andrews. He was literally 60 seconds away from winning the game and sending home the guy who'd talked trash about him all year, all week and all game, and told the truth.

The point is, I don't need to defend him. I'm trying to understand why you're attacking. That's all.

What did he do that's "gangsta" to Andrews? His words? His volume? His emotion? Help me out here.

my point is that he's among the most articulate and intelligent players in the league, has shown so in multiple interviews and multiple segments on shows like First Take and SVP&Ruseillo, and he's getting crap because of a 15 second take after he made the play of his life against people who'd been talking smack since literally the offseason, and who did it again during the week and during the game.

The link showed how, within 8 hours of the game, he penned a pretty decent column delineating exactly what he was thinking and gave some context. I don't know that many players would/could have done that.

...uhhh, we''re talking about his behavior in the Erin Andrews and why a supposedly educated man "CHOSE" to relegate himself to acting like a "gansta"...he acted like a punk, plain and simple...and if you were not an admitted "homer" (your words) I seriously doubt you'd be defending him.

Brian, I'm not disputing that he is articulate or intelligent, but come on... he should have been able to keep it in check better... yeah, he made the play of his lifetime, but come on...

I'm treading on thin ice here b/c I'm a homer, but what was "gangsta" about his response to Andrews, or to Werter, or to the ESPN crew, or at the podium? He was brash, confident/cocky, destroyed the guy who'd been talking smack all week--

If you thought it was "gangsta" when Ali did it, or when Bird or Jordan did it, or when Deion Sanders did it, or when Johnny Manziell did it, or when Terrell Owens did it, or when Cris Carter did it this morning when talking about the Seahawks WRs, then I understand. But if you didn't, I don't see where the outrage comes from.

Johnny Manzel needs a major ass-kicking & IS a punk. Same goes for Owens. Hell even his own team mates couldn't stand his nonsense. As far as this clown Sherman, he gets in Crabtree's face & makes the choke sign. This is a college grad? what is he 12? And then acting like a lunatic in front of Andrews. Sorry Brian by no way are you going to justify him acting like a raving madman.

I don't need to justify a thing. I'm trying to understand why he's a "classless punk", "gangsta", a "big tool" and a "raving madman" in the eyes of Yankees fans because he said :

Andrews: “Richard, let me ask you about the final play. Take me through it.”
Sherman: “Well, I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me.”
Andrews: “Who was talking about you?”
Sherman: “Crabtree. Don’t you open your mouth about the best. Or I’m ma shut it for you real quick. L.O.B (Legion of boom, the nickname of the Seahawks secondary).”
Andrews: “Alright, before … Well, Joe, back over to you.”

Fair enough.

BTW: He was miked up. He said "good game" to Crabtree and got hit in the face.

Briam c'mon seriously, its not so much what he said but how he said it. Screaming it like someone just beat up his mother. I understand the excitement, really I get that. But damn dude act like a professional. You make a choke sign toward the 49er bench (yeah real class) And then you go off on a personal rant. Sorry but the guys a jerk & needs to grow up.

True, but I think the opposite is just as true. I can't think that Manning's seen a D this good that often, and especially since he's had the neck problems and lost a bit off his fastball. All of SEA's corners all can catch. Those flutterballs will turn into INTs, not just knockdowns & passes defensed.

Its a case of the #1 offense going against the #1 defense. And as far as Manning facing tough defenses, the Chiefs had the 5th best defense in the league & in 2 games Manning threw for 6 TDs & over 700 total yards. It should be a great game but I'm going with my daughters home state of Colorado.

Regarding the others, Ali was brash and cocky from the videos I've seen, but not classless... but before my time, so I haven't seen all his stuff, Bird and Jordan were confident with a little cocky, but not classless... Chris Carter and Deion Sanders were confident and a little brash, Manziell and TO are over the top athletes who were in line with what Sherman did...

the biggest issue as far as WHAT he said was both "with a sorry receiver like Crabtree" and "Don’t you open your mouth about the best. Or I’m ma shut it for you real quick."

There there was HOW he said it... which was very thuggish...

There is being cocky/confident, then there is flat out classless... he specifically called out Crabtree... and the I'm ma shut it for your real quick sounds like a threat.... so, yeah, he is what we called him...

And then there was the choke sign directed at the 49er bench = Classless.

So he spoke (screamed) like a thug & his actions toward the 49ers bench was classless. Guilty as charged. End of story.

..."help you out"?...you're obviously beyond help...have you even taken the time to digest what is being said by myself and many others?...nobody said he was vulgar ...instead, it is his behavior that people had a problem with...but you are the only one who is defending him.
...he taunted Crabtree (see penalty)...acted like a thug when interviewed by Andrews...and then lied about what he had said to Crabtree.

no need to insult Brian... but yeah.... it was more how then what was said... AND the visual of the choke symbol...

Why the insults? What's gotten you so worked up about this?
...have you even taken the time to digest what is being said by myself and many others?
Yep.

Well, besides ESPN and SI, and it seems as if your only concern is the 60 seconds after the most important play of his life. A choke sign and a 15-second interview.
...he taunted Crabtree (see penalty)...acted like a thug when interviewed by Andrews...and then lied about what he had said to Crabtree.

He was mic'd up. There's incontrovertible proof, dude. He said "good game" and offered his hand.

Look, I get it, you don't like what he did. No problem with that. Call him classless if you like, no problem. Root for the Broncos if you'd like, no problem with that. But I'm going to ask the question when these words like "thug" and "gangsta" get thrown around, because now you've moved into borderline hate speech, and I was trying to figure out where you're coming from.

Enjoy the Super Bowl.

One more quote, and I'll leave you to it...
Erin Andrews said:
“He never threatened me, he never cussed at me or the camera and I was never frightened to be honest with you,” she told the Dan Patrick Show Monday.

But she does have a small battle wound from the postgame scrum.

“I cut my way in to grab him because I knew they were going to take the interview,” she said. “He just bear-hugged me because he was so excited and I hit my chin on his pads and I was like, ‘Oh god, am I bleeding?’ So it was just so much raw, candid emotion at once.

Immediately following the interview and all day Monday, Twitter erupted with negative commentary on how Sherman handled himself, when really he was just riding on adrenaline because he made a career-defining play to help his team go to the Super Bowl. It’s the kind of moment reporters live for.

“Dan, how much have you and I wanted a moment like that where an athlete didn’t say, ‘We’re playing Seahawks ball,’ ‘We’re taking it play-by-play, game-by-game, this is what we wanted,’”Andrews said. “He lost his mind and it was awesome for once, you know?

...try reading s l o w l y...one more time, he acted like "a classless punk".

...I and others have already explained "where we are coming from"...and I could care less who wins the SB...unlike you, I'm neither an admitted Seattle or a Denver "homer".

...he behaved like "a classless punk"...and a "thug" and a wannabe "gangsta".

...well, it's about time, it's finally sinking in...yes, I thought he acted like "a classless punk" in the interview with Andrews...now if you want to scurry off to copy and paste more quotes to vainly defend your boy, go ahead

He was mic'd up. There's incontrovertible proof, dude. He said "good game" and offered his hand.

...uhhh, he was "mike up during the play" ?...really?...and he's was also miked up 5-10 seconds after the play?, because that's when he confronted Crabtree...please, just stop.

Brian honestly, do you think him making a choke sign toward the 49ers bench was professional or classless? Seriously all BS & homerism aside.

I'll wait..................................

Sherman could've been the better man but clearly he couldn't help himself. As for the game I just don't see Seattle being able to keep up with Denver regardless of how good their defense is.

I don't think the choke sign was professional. I can understand it, though, as it occurred literally 5 seconds after he got pushed in the face for saying "good game" and putting out his hand.

And yes, he was mic'd up. That means, he had a wireless microphone on him recording everything he said and heard--during plays, on the sidelines, trash talk, etc. Seriously? You ever watch NFL films?

I showed how I didn't think he was a classless punk gangsta thug in his interview, you said it was just me, I said how commentators on ESPN and SI (and now, the reporter who happened to do the interview) didn't think so. Kinda easy, really.

So if the choke sign wasn't professional then it was........c'mon say it with me..........c'mon, you can do it..........YES!, it was classless. Wow, you put up one helleva fight. But I'm glad we FINALLY cleared it up. Enjoy the superbowl.

...do you seriously think he got pushed in the face for simply saying "good game"?...news to me.

...lmao, so now you're saying that because Erin Andrews didn't publicly say that your boy acted like a "punk" it means she wasn't thinking it?...do you really expect her to come out and say it?...are you really this easily led?

Sorry, Rick, I didn't know you were going for if it wasn't professional it was classy. Totally my fault.

This started out as a rant that Sherman was a "classless punk" "gangsta" "thug" for his postgame rants. Then after showing that he wasn't ranting to Ed Werter or the ESPN post-game crew or the podium, it became that he was a "gangsta thug" for scaring Erin Andrews. After it was pointed out that she herself said she wasn't scared and that it was "awesome", it then became him being a "classless punk" "gangsta" "thug" "taunting" Crabtree. After being proven that he actually just said "good game", it was whittled down to the detail that his giving a choke sign after being hit in the face was unprofessional. OK.

I agree that the choke sign was emotional and unprofessional. If you want to say "classless", sure. Now, will you agree that he is a very articulate and intelligent player who is the best CB in the NFL? Or are you going to stick with the "thug" "gangsta" spiel, even after it's all been stripped away as not true?

And has anyone brought up Crabtree punching a guy in the face? Until that point (regardless of what you think of his Andrews speech or his post-game comments) the only thing he'd done was say "good game" and offer his hand. Is that gangsta thug classless punk, or what?

If the game was being played in Seattle I would say it's possible. Manning just has too many weapons.

...Manning has had the weapons before and his ability goes without saying...but I remember too many times that he has wilted under the pressure of a great defense.

...the Broncos may be favored but I think it will be a close game.

She said it was "awesome". I guess I don't have the mindreading power you do, I just go by what a reporter said. She said "it was raw, candid emotion" and that "it was awesome". Then again, your mindreading/lipreading power insisted that he taunted Crabtree, when all he said was "good game", so I'm probably not the one who needs to check himself here. :dunno:

...uhh, it was not a "rant", it was SIX simple words...here. lemme refresh your memory; "...Richard Sherman, what a classless punk."

...no one has disputed his talent on the field, but IN THAT INTERVIEW, he behaved like a punk, a thug, and a gangsta....not sure why you keep going off on these tangents.

...again, try if you can, to stay on topic...Crabtree has nothing to do with the way Sherman acted. Was Crabtree flagged?...no. Did Crabtree act in any way similar to Sherman in an interview?...no

This is the best way to look at it. When you act like a complete fool you don't point your finger at somebody and blame them for your actions. The bottom line is that Sherman simply wanted to make things all about him instead of it about Seattle going to the Super Bowl.

...again, do you really believe that's what she was thinking at the time of the interview?...do you really think people always say what they mean?...yeah, people are always up front when answering a question...did you even pay attention to her reaction and her body language?...no mind reading needed, only common sense.

...still waiting for this supposed "miked up" recording of Sherman only saying "good game"...can you produce it or not?...if you can fine, I'll yield on that portion of the discussion...if not, just let it go.

..."check myself"?...seriously?...lmao.
