I have to admit that I don't know much about this guy other than his more famous cousin is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. I don't watch many Pelicans games. He was the #17 pick in the 2019 draft and, from what I've read, it seems that he hasn't quite managed to live up to his draft expectations. Basketballreference.com has him at 6'6", 205 lbs. He's played 50 games this year, is averaging about 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 boards on 26 minutes per game. His PER is 10.8. He's shooting 37.5% overall and 31.1% from 3. He's had a couple of big games though including 31 points against the Sixers and 27 against the Blazers. So, is he just a throw-in or someone that the Blazers might be interested in developing?

 
I'd like to give this kid the minute we have been allocating to Ben Mac to see what he can do.
 
He's a tall combo guard and coming out of college considered a two way player and somewhat of a playmaker. He had injuries his first two years but now that he is healthy is having his worst year. Maybe he was trying too hard? Hopefully he can relax here and get better.
 
He sucks. He shoot’s a ton but can’t make shots. Has a slow release. Somehow still confident enough to launch everything. Like a CJ that can’t make shots.
 
He's a 23 yr old who shoots 31% from three and shooting is supposedly his strongest attribute.
 
Could be a useful backup for $5 million next year. Even if we bring in some starting level or 6th man players, we aren't going to be bringing in 5 of them. If NAW improves his 3 point shot could be a big time contributor. Without that shot he's likely limited to a deeper backup role.
 
I like the guys at Uprise but I know shocker they can be wrong at times and it's possible he could thrive with the Blazers and playing with a Dame. I am not saying he will be great but change of scenery has shown to help players plenty of times so wait and see OR if he is used to get someone we know to be good then cool but be patient with the younger players we got from the two trades.
 
I’m not too excited about him, but he has scored 30+ points multiple times this season and his career percentages as a starter are significantly better (42% FG, 35% 3PT)

Plus, Chauncey has show an ability to develop guards. That said, who knows if he’s still gonna be here tomorrow.
 
his most valuable attribute, from Portland's perspective is probably the team option on next year's salary
 
For whatever it's worth, NO was talking last year like they saw star potential in him. Yes he's a bit of a chucker, but long, fluid athletes who can do a bit of everything aren't exactly growing on trees. May or may not ever come to fruition, but he's the type of guy I'd like to see do a lot more facilitating around better scorers and get, maybe 10 shots a game -- I thought he was at his best when he was playing that "do a little bit of everything" role, not the "shoot every time you touch the ball"/Terrance Ross role.

Yeah he had a pretty solid season last year, hence his option being picked up. Dunno what happened this year, dont watch the pelicans, but I wouldnt say hes hopeless. Give him to Billups and see what happens. Or trade him. Whatever.

Pretty much where I am... For all of our many many warts, Chauncey has these kids playing hard and seemingly developing. I never thought I'd say this, but Elleby looks like he has a spot in this league, ditto for Watford. Hard to bank on your reasonably unproven coach turning a whole bunch of scraps into great players, but NOT hard to see him being able to take a handful of no-names and turn them into impactful role players around a core few guys... Don't want to get my hopes too high up, but from that standpoint, we might not be as far away as some like to think...
