NO All-Star game selection for Aldridge

Melo was the one who should have been eliminated from that roster. Dumbass fans screwed it up again. And coaches picking Duncan. SMH.

The NBA wants to have as much Hollywood royalty at the game, no matter how long ago they were important (Dianne Cannon, Jack Nicholson, the majority of "famous" Laker fans), as possible. And having Brian Wilson's cousins nephew on the team gives them one more shot at highlighting just how freaking awesome Los Angeles is, and how the rest of us suck for not living there.

10 bucks says if Love makes it, they'll make a dated "Good Vibrations" remark, or something similarly stupid.

Thats a stretch.

I don't think Duncan is an All Star this season. More like a life time achievement award. 14 and 9 in 29 minutes. And for everyone that mentions him anchoring his defense, they sure tend to not put him on a team's best post player(LMA) when that player is tearing their team up. That selection sucks. I'd say he deserves it over Manu as well. And maybe over Dirk's 23 and 7. Even Gasol has fallen off after a hot start to the season, and seems like his hot start gets more recognition than LMA's recent hot streak. Oh well.

The Spurs have won 40 games. I hate it, but once you make the All Star team it's assumed that unless there's a really good reason, you'll make it again and again and again and again.

I wish they would have made the votes public. Not the identities, just the # of votes a player got, etc.,

@Patty_Mills:

All Star in my books and even more an All Star off the court. One of the best teammates I've ever had. #PAYTHAT

on the OP, Hi GR :hello:

You guys will not like the poll on NBA.com

Here's what Henry Abbott had to say about the Aldridge all-star snub:

"LaMarcus Aldridge
How amazing is ex-Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard? The team's two best players go down, and a third emerges as a double-double monster and leader of a playoff-caliber team. On sheer production, Aldridge is on the bubble, especially when you factor in how he started the season (and, for that matter, his career). And it sure doesn't help that his team is middling, and plays games that start incredibly late for a lot of voters. However, here's what you're missing: All-Star games are about stellar plays, a good hunk of which are lobs. Not sure anybody finishes more lobs than this long, fast leaper. It would have been pretty."

No offense, but Aldridge's dunks are more boring than someone like Griffins.

I hate how people say "there's always next year"...well, on the same token, Duncan has already had several other ASG..so there's always last year.

But Portlands wins are far more exciting. And frequent.

Which if that is why San Antonio got Manu and Duncan, and Boston got 4, it should've been why Portland got one.

I thought we were talking about this.

It would have been terrific if he would have made it; it would have been a nice tribute not just to him, but this team in general for fighting through this ridiculous stretch of injuries. No one here should be surprised, however. He's equal to several other players, and history has taught us when a Blazer is equal to other players, they generally are passed over. Such is life in our little corner of the NBA.

So Duncan gets in with unimpressive numbers on a team with a great record. Griffin gets in with impressive numbers on a team with a lousy record. Meanwhile, Aldridge gets left out with impressive numbers on an undermanned team with a decent record. No justice.

Trivia: When was the last time an american born white player was an All Star?... commissioner replacements don't count

I'm assuming Jason Kidd doesn't count? I know he is half black but he sure looks white... He was in it in 2008. Other than that, Brad Miller in '04?

Yep it was Miller in 03 and 04. Before that it was stockton is 2000 I believe.

Chris Broussard, skip bayless and lil wayne all just said on first take that lamarcus was the biggest snub and should be selected by stern. There's still hope!

I think he still has a shot... but I'm not holding my breath.

there's already 5 guards with 3 PG. nash is having a great year, but he would be an odd selection in term of balance. same with parker. unless you want to play westbrook or ginobili off the bench at SF or something with 6 guards you run into a serious minutes crunch.

Dirk Nowitzki mentioned he might sit out this years game, so there is still a chance.

there's also a chance deron will sit out, which would mean LMA isn't competing with nash/parker
