You ask a lot of questions. You provide less answers. This morning I gave you a bunch of questions. You never followed up.

You mean questions like

So since you know what views I have, what are they exactly? You said I share them with Republicans. Which ones? Which liberal views do I have? Knock yourself out with that one.

Yeah, those questions weren't worth asking, much less answering.

Pick and choose, that's what you do. Anything you think you can make witty and clever you do and more than often it's neither of those things, instead a very arrogant attitude towards people in "debates".

You frequently don't address my points either, so don't be running around calling the kettle black.

The memo wasn't harmful in general like people acted. Was it harmful to himself? lost him that job but opened up opportunities to speak with like minded people, fighting against the ideology I am speaking of with the likes of intellectuals such as jordan peterson and bret weinstein, sam harris, etc. Only he can answer whether it was harmful or not. Doesn't sound like he really loved his job at google considering the issues he had with them. Maybe he is happier now. Who knows

Indeed, who knows. Perhaps he's a happy unemployed social justice warrior now.

Go back to this morning, there are a lot of things for you to answer but you never did. I have addressed everything you have said. Now you claim they weren't worth answering. That's unfortunate. I have a question actually. How does it feel being your age and constantly being outsmarted by a 26 year old? you are no match in debate.

Sounds like a lot of talking points.

It's funny how you know so much about a group you've never met, talked with, argued with, debated against etc..

You really only know what you've been told... :dunno:

Ah, my friend, you assume too much.

I spent a decade in Corvallis, became antiquated with a lot of younger folks that either had favorable opinions, or were directly involved. Also have a cousins daughter who is very involved, she travels between California, Oregon and Washington to attend protests. Her, her father and I , just had lunch this week for the first time in a long while. Tried to get her to participate, so she confirmed what I had been lead to believe. When the subject changed and talk was of her fathers business, he spoke of the tough competition from illegals, she became offended, through a fit, and stormed out of the restaurant. Her dad is trying to help her out, supports her choice to identify as a boy. Lets her stay with him and provides what ever is needed. Still, he confided that this is her behavior now and has been upon becoming involved with the movement and those involved in it.

How does it feel to be 26 and spending this much time arguing with retired folks on a basketball forum who were at your age building a life and being actually productive...? At your age I had no time for such nonsense....there's much smarter ways to use your time..what have you accomplished with these debates?

There is no single best person for the job, especially entry level jobs in a large company. In fact an interview process is not the best indicator for who will be the best fit, it's really easy to bullshit your way through it or appeal to the personal bias of a hiring manager. Also, left to their own devices a hiring manager will usually fill a team with people who look like them and have similar backgrounds. It's an unconscious bias thing most people do regardless of race or gender.

High tech companies generally impose a strategy of hiring lots of bright people, from diverse backgrounds, for entry level positions. They then give those people the opportunity to prove their worth for advancement, while letting the bullshitters eventually fall out of the company. That way you end up with the best people in higher positions, and you have a diverse innovative work force.
I've seen real assholes bullshit their way into important jobs as technicians, engineers and managers.

There are all kinds of benefits from hiring a diverse workforce and it's not only because of innovation.

I've seen divers

It took me ten years to get through college in Corvallis. Of course, I had the army followed by a disability followed by a divorce to hold me up. However, I was tenacious. Got my degree because of the $110/mo. from the GI Bill. Well, that and working summers.

Could be he is gaining insight and developing the ability to create his own opinion, rather than be spoon fed what ever the media deems to be acceptable?

You call it spoon fed? This so called Fake News media has garnered accolades for journalism excellence while Fox News has garnered only harsh criticism. Doesn't this tell you anything?

...does that include Fox, Breitbart, etc.?

...so you think an anonymous message board is the best place to "gain insight"?

It does not take a genius to realize that the media is biased. It has been this way for at least one hundred and fifty years. Is the message board "the best", not in my opinion, but I read a hell of a lot of books. With that said, I value your opinions far more than I do most supposed "news" channels.

Even if I do not agree, I at least gain some insight at to why you believe what you do.

There is, at least, a diversity of opinion here, which makes it better than living in a bubble as some choose to do.

Of course, one has to listen to alternate opinions to learn anything, but mere exposure is a prerequisite.

I'd say your insight in what we believe and why we believe it is precious scant.

Another prerequisite is an open mind.

That is brutal, buddy. I give you more credit than you may think. I dont agree at times, but for the most part I attempt to understand.

he challenged me, he couldn't keep up. I have barely posted here all summer and I start being consistent for two days and all of a sudden that equals my life. right.

Dude, look at the people that constantly peddle the same horseshit on here with no foundation for their argument. Dviss and Barfo, riverman, etc. They all just believe you are right wing or defending white supremacists if you don't sit and bash trump left and right. If you aren't apart of their revolving echo chamber every day with new trump posts saying the same old shit, you are the enemy. It's insane that people at that age haven't learned. It's just the same old brainwash.

^^^Barfo "couldn't keep up"?...I seriously doubt that, but believe what you want.

At that age I had a library card and read tons of books and the Sunday paper ...didn't watch TV, still don't and there was no internet...no problem gaining insight and creating my own opinions...working for the Navy opened my eyes to Nixon....people talked about the state of the world face to face without feeling a need to link articles to the conversations....original thought...a dying art form in my view. The greatest thinkers in history were for the most part...well read loners. Wisdom comes purely from experience ...young folks would do well to go out and experience the world and opportunities ..those that do will eliminate a lot of problems at an early age. Those that don't will just practice bitching about problems all throughout life with no solutions in sight...

Yeah..The echo chamber is as bad as I have seen it, yet some of the guys are worth conversing with...River a good soul..Barfo, well, if he is not trolling you, and mind you it takes a shrewd eye to tell, he is a sharp cat.

Like any old boys club, it takes a while. Stay with your values.

You're just not keeping up...you said you're smarter than someone and younger....you've used this repeatedly as a way of liking your own post...good luck with that...I read the whole thread...you proved nothing in my view except that you like to define several people in derogatory terms...which to anyone intelligent is not a sign of maturity let alone intelligence...expect to be called out on it when you dish it out...I've never called you racist or any of the terms you just posted...I will say you are a person who sensationalizes any form of disagreement with your views though and you seem to fall back on your age as a talking point which just doesn't make sense in a civil discussion. I've asked you a question since you've used ageism as a talking point..what have you accomplished at 26? What has your debate in this thread accomplished? I have many friends here who are right wing Trump supporters...I don't give a shit if you are or not....my oldest son is a card carrying NRA Trump voting conservative...I love him anyway...you shouldn't assume people have closed minds because they may disagree with you...that's having a closed mind

Sorry, I most definitely erred in being 'brutal'. That was wrong. You can't achieve positive results off unacceptable feedback. I know that very well yet often fall into the trap of making the mistake over and over. Gonna have to work on that one. Blame it on falling in line with multiple others who regularly provide unacceptable feedback. Not blaming them 'cause I'll assume they don't know what I know and I know damn well that feedback must be acceptable else you're wasting your time and I hate wasting time. Time is precious, we don't have much and must make the best of it.

Good luck to you, you're a good kid. Of course damn near everyone in here is a kid to me. Not Marzy though, he's more like an old man to me. Sorry, Marzy, I didn't mean that as a slight.

Naw, man...joshing with you on that a bit. You did no wrong. But hey, you can call me kid all you want, I doubt that I am more than a handful of years younger, but I will take it anytime I can.

As too MarAzul..dont you think it would be a kick to have an adult beverage with him?

I've had adult beverages with Lanny and coffee with Marzy. Had wonderful times.
