I told you guys Rod Thorn cannot be robbed. KP tried to rob Thorn and he failed
Are you advocating trading just to make a trade?
It was on like 4 different sources on Netsdaily.com but now that he's not getting traded they took them all out so i can't find them and why would i lie about something like that?Ask anyone from that website that read it and they'll tell you
Well if the rumor is true, I'd ask for a pick too considering how much money Carter is making. $20M is a lot and would have been a big favor for the Nets.
edit - 16M per year

How do you know that they know that was real? How do you know that some towel boy didn't make it up and feed it to them?
NEWSFLASH: GMs don't let the media know what they're actually discussing.
How so? We have cap space to sign presumably a pretty good player. We wouldn't have to give up shit.
Did we resolve whether we can package the TE after 90 days or never package it?
frye for carter just wasnt enough.....................................................................Rod Thorn is doing a fucking interview in TV right now and he's saying that they were close to doing the deal put the pick screwed it up. KP thought the Nets were dumping Carter for anything so he was asking for more picks which won't happen

If it upgrades us in talent and logically fits (I'm looking at you Gerald Wallace or Caron Butler) or doesn't cost us much at all (John Salmons) then yes I would advocate a trade-
Haha. Just funny how he is literally saying what happened.
Assuming he's not a liar, I don't think that the Golden State 2011 pick was worthy of making or breaking the deal, personally...

Too bad that Thorn has to go on TV and basically whine about not having leverage. Bad form IMO. Looks like Thorn the bully got his bluff called.
Now he can sit and wait for another 1.5 seasons so LeBron can not sign with them.

Ok, so what if Charlotte and Washington weren't just looking for savings but wanted some talent too. Lamarcus Aldridge and RLEC for either of them?
What if Sacramento really likes Nocioni? What if they rejected a Frye and RLEC for Salmons and Miller trade?
What if Charlotte was wavering on giving us Wallace for just what KP wanted so he decided not to do the Sacramento deal and then the Bulls did and Charlotte finally said no?
We just don't know. Why do we act like we do?
I'm disappointed, but I don't think that KP just sat there and said, "My players are too good and I'm not trading any of them."
I don't know. Portland would be taking on a big, fat contract while New Jersey clears up a lot of cap space between RLEC/Frye. Plus New Jersey pays penny on the dollar for RLEC the rest of the season.
I have no problem with saving some cash and waiting to see what is out there this summer. Plus, New Jersey has much less flexibility to offer other FAs or other teams in a trade. Thorn messed up and he's on TV to try and spin the damage he just did to his franchise.
I think it got through everyones mind that no matter how much cap space we have were not getting LeBron.
I don't really care about New Jersey and how they make out, to be honest.
I think Carter would have been a HUGE upgrade for the team for the next few years and I'm disappointed that a Golden State 2011 first rounder would have been the thing that kept him off the Blazers team.

Well, that may be true, so that makes this summer more important, and the Nets just lost over $16 million in extra cap space this summer plus another $4 million in cash that insurance would pay for LaFrentz.
Almost $25 million under that cap this summer would have been nice, eh? Now the Nets have basically the same amount as the Blazers, who are much more poised to win at this stage.
However…at $62.67 million, the Nets’ payroll is ALREADY the third lowest in the NBA, nearly $10 million below the luxury tax threshold! We’re not talking about the Sacramento Kings, whose payroll is nearly $70 million and whose win total is 11. Nets may look like a small market team at the IZOD but its TV contract and concessions, etc., are helped by its position in the New York area.
Keeping Vince carter doesn't hurt us that much. We still have the 3rd lowest payroll in the NBA so it's all good
