Norm Powell Contract

In Powell's stint with the Blazers, he has been frustratingly anti-clutch.
Not gonna lie. My daughter's schedule of being a fulltime college student & working fulltime, she rarely got to watch our Boyz. But during the playoffs, everytime she did, he sucked bigtime. I keep telling her he's good, but she's like meh, show me.

Sign and Trade Powell for Kawhi… who is with me?

bird rights simply means we can go over the cap to retain him. but powell can choose to go wherever he wants to as an unrestricted free agent.

...oh, I see -- totally missed the UFA part of it. Maybe the CJ Ell love affair will be enough to convince him to stay!

I like Powell but only reason to give him a 20 plus million per year contract is IF they are trading CJ if they want to give 80 to 90 plus million to 3 guards then NeO really is a complete idiot and should be fired ASAP

nah, even if CJ is here, we can't just afford to let an asset like Powell walk. Even on a 4 yr, 80 mil deal, Powell becomes one of our more tradeable pieces down the line. On a team strapped for tradeable contracts and assets, losing him for nothing is nothing short of a disaster.

I am not saying it's not impossible but it's not ideal that is why I made the last post and when the Blazers are in WIN now or watch Dame walk then in a way i do think it's stupid UNLESS Dame is getting traded. This would mean you shift CJ to a PG/SG ala Porter and Powell to SG BUT i hate this idea cause a team without Dame is not a team i want to watch in a ideal world unless he demands to be traded.

Yep.

What if we can convince him that he will start at SG and CJ will move into a 6th man role in the short term? I mean, who gives a shit what CJ thinks.

Sidenote, how the fuck did Haynes get the scoop on Norm? Who is Norm's agent.....

I love Powell. Loved the trade when we got him. To lose him for nothing would be inexcusable. Olshey needs to go

You do realize that there's a big gap in logic between your various statements and your conclusion that Olshey needs to go, right? If you love Powell and loved the trade when we got him, then you have to accept the provisions of the contract that he came with, which permits him to not pick up his option year and become a free agent. Losing him for nothing is Norm's prerogative, not Olshey's. Olshey can offer him anything up to a max contract since the Blazers hold his Bird Rights, but ultimately it's Norm's call as to where he wants to play next season. And while your statement that Olshey needs to go is widely held around here, there's no logical connection between all of the previous statements and that conclusion. Does Oshey need to go if he makes a great offer and re-signs Norm, he moves CJ so Norm can play his natural 2G spot, and he gets a really good player back in the CJ trade? If your answer is still yes, then there was no need to list Olshey in your analysis at all since your mind is already made up about his future with the team.

We dont resign Powell for 20+ Million to put him in the corner watching CJ Iso for 16 seconds. MeJ is gone

One can hope. Or, the conspiracy theorists suggest it means they are trading Dame

he's an idiot because he turned a second round pick into a 15-20 ppg scorer who plays good defense?

the value is there, the fit we need the coach the figure out.

That wasn't what I quoted. I quoted about trading cj. I don't trust Neil at all to do anything to actually put another stud next to Dame. He's never proven it and only said token responses when he "tried".

It's probable that Neil has had opportunities over the years to move CJ but Dame exercised pressure to not as they have been hooked at the hip.

If we pay Powell 18-20 mil a year like I fear, I don't see how you build a championship worthy team around Dame.

You aren't getting enough for CJ in a trade to make up for that decision imo

We traded a 22 year old RFA and a valuable asset with ties to Portland, for a guy who is a UFA and really has no allegiances here and I can't honestly think he had a great time on the team last season. Hard to say though.

If Norm walks for nothing, yes, Neil is a fucking idiot.

CJ not going give you a stud.

If you knew the likelihood of re-signing him was bleak than why trade Trent?

Sign and trade norman powell for a woman. Because thats all that matters.
