Well, this is the most interest there's been in the team this season... All publicity is good publicity, right? Right??

Can people do math in this forum cause the way I see it and let's to keep things SIMPLE l-- Bledsoe's contract is for 19m and only 4
  • 2022 $3.9 million guaranteed , fully guaranteed on 6/29/22
Do your research before saying it's only 6.3

This info comes from Spotrac.com

OMG YAY WE GAVE 2 STARTERS AWAY TO DUCK THE TAX. MY GOD WHAT A GOOD TRADE.

Now back to reality, the trade is fucking awful. Not opinion, facts.

Well hopefully our pick this summer develops into an star player cause fuck this is depressing

My point is wait and see what else happens before going into a complete meltdown cause i agree talent for talent this trade is garbage and I will admit even if this does HELP a rebuild and free up salary we just helped a rival get better so that is the biggest bad thing about this trade ( at this time )

So... Did you do your research?

yes, you said "whispers." And "Powell's name is swirling."

I could have told you there are more than whispers and similar stuff just based on every article out there.

That's not really much of a hint.

maybe if you would have been more straightforward, we would have prevented this abomination by embarrassing him.

Do your research before saying it's only 6.3 cause that means the Blazers free up 15m

Wow... speaking of math we already had 12.9M going out the door with RoCo's fully expiring contract. So yeah if Bledsoe's contract doesn't get picked up it frees up 15M plus the deal brought back like 3.9M less than it sent out. So when you do the math 15M in cap space freed up plus 3.9M in cap space freed up minus 12.9M that was already going to be freed up equals... 6M additionally freed up.

Two starters are dead weight? Getting nothing back but salary dump ughhh
Yep..
Two starters that NEVER made a difference.
Two starters that stunned the growth of younger players, which, I thought was a common theme in this forum, which is why I am so surprised at the negative reaction to this move.
Most of you have been singing for more time "to play the young guys"..
Well....now ya'll get your wish and everyone's upset.
I think I'll trust Cronin on this one.
And you all should trust that Trendon and Greg and CJEllerby will justify the year long cries to play them!!

No excuse for this bad a trade. He has the keys and this is what he does no matter what the circumstance this is one of the worst trades any team in the nba has made in years. Among everything we made made the Clippers better a team we would have to go through in the west. 6 days before the trade deadline and this what happens. I think we should be scared and worried if this guy does anymore moves if this is what he thinks is a solid move. Keon Jhonson is another guard who is shooting 27% from 3....
He actually better do more in order to make this trade even a little bit explicable.

Ok maybe the line do your research was a little much but all i see is the blazers free up 15m ish when they cut him at the end of season.

Can someone explain to me WHY i am wrong ?

I've already weighed in on it.......fact is Nance and Watford will probably take over all Roco's minutes and Nas will take Powell's job....Watford and Nas are ridiculously good value for the money...Roco needed to go and as far as I can guess...Norm wanted to go. ...the Norm deal I think was to appease Norm and build a trading relationship with the Clippers moving forward....in my view....this was probably the only trade available....Norm was tied to other teams but that doesn't mean they didn't back away and look for other options...my biggest hope is that Chauncey see's the sum of the total parts as either better chemisty or better fits for his style of coaching....Chauncey knows these guys better than anyone here does....I'm trusting the process....the rest of the board can panic away about it..I'm not...Blazer fans always over value their players in trade season
I completely disagree but I respect your opinion. On top of everything Eric Bledose sucks and has a terrible contract that will still be on the books the next year. I just cant imagine 6 days before the deadline this is best we could get there is no way. We are worse off with this trade no question . We dont need more guards we need fowards...

I think, tbh, everyone needs to relax and realize this is just a precursor to something else. It’s way way too bad to just be a singular deal and that’s all. This team sucks and needs a total shake up. More to come I’m sure.

Way to early to judge what's happening. Until I see where Joe has had the interim tag pulled, Im thinking we will have a new wheeler dealer this off season.

the cap savings are meaningless when we still have to extend Nurk and Ant. That will already put us well over the cap again and leave us with nothing to sign any upcoming FAs of significance from other teams.

Lol.

"Hey let's throw away 2 guys we could actually get value back from and everything will be fine"

They had positive trade value and we got none of it back. Its an awful fucking trade, and honestly for the first one he got to do... To negatively trade assets that were deemed positive (even though you think they suck, it doesn't matter), it's a fucking L.

That's reality, which obviously doesn't line up with your opinion.

Powell $16,758,621

vs:

Eric Bledsoe $3,900.000
Justise Winslow $4,097,561
Keon Johnson $2,681,040

16,758,621 - (3,900.000 + 4,097,561 + 2,681,040 ) = 6,080,020

Hey!! look at that...you're right...it's not 6.3M....it's 6.1M!!

Lmao- so just give away assets for nothing? And the guys you mention are not ready for big minutes, they are 3rd stringers at best and we gave up starters to make time for them lmao. Come on this was horrible trade we got zero assets back.

You also have to factor in Winslow and Johnson salaries for next season. So savings is Powell minus Bledsoe 3.9, Johnson and winslow.

the cap savings are meaningless when we still have to extend Nurk and Ant. That will already put us well over the cap again and leave us with nothing to sign any upcoming FAs of significance from other teams.

And this is why. Case closed.

I finally figured out the justification behind this trade! With all the G-Leaguers on our roster due to injuries we felt there was an imbalance of actual NBA talent in uniform and we needed to level it out.

A lot of people are forgetting order of operations.
When you have cap you can use your cap room to sign new guys then sign your own free gents back to go over the cap.

This is the only sliver of hope that I’m hanging onto. This trade is just so bad to be the stand alone move.

I haven't seen such a brilliant dealmaker since Neville Chamberlain.
