Norm RoCo traded

this wasnt move to get under the tax, its part of the bigger picture (they needed to lose a couple of millions to get under the tax, if not less)

powell was a bad fit and thank god hes gone, we all knew roco will be gone too, so no surprise there

it looks to me like theyre creating cap space to re-sign nurk & ant and they will roll with ant & little as starters going forward and now they will hunt for power forward, so we basically have four starters settled (cj mccollum will be gone too)
The fact that you're actually trying to justify the most garbage trade I've ever seen makes you have no credibility with any of your takes going forward... not that you had much to lose.

I will give this trade until Thursday afternoon to see if it can possibly make any sense at that point but there is going to have to be some other big time wheeling and dealing to make this look even a little bit sensible.

It's completely "sensible" if the rumor about Cronin basically viewing Dame-CJ-Ant-Nurkic as the core of the team is true

How do you not even manage to get a pick, man?! I'm incredulous that this is the best we could do.

Cap expert my ass, fucking idiot.

Yeesh. That's really, really, really bad.

Even if you are getting cap relief ... I don't know Bledsoe's status ... who are you going to be able to sign as a free agent to accentuate what's left of this roster? You have to get someone back who can help you.

Would have been better trading Norm and RoCo in separate deals, I have to think.

This make me mad.

This trade does not open up any space to sign any FAs of significance outside of our own guys.

Could also be they are clearing the books to get ready for a sale of the franchise.

Then you jettison Lillard the hell outta here.

No team is being sold until the new tv contract comes in a couple years and significantly ups the value of franchises.

Perhaps the worst trade I have ever seen. No exaggeration.

This is what I said about a bad GM setting the franchise back years. Olshey made trades to compete. We didn't even get an asset back in this deal. I can't imagine what is going through Dame's head. The least we could have gotten were first-rounders to move in other trades. Once you move assets, it limits how much better you can become.

Truly awful.

And how you fill in the rotation if you have no assets? After this trade we almost lost all our trade chips and still didn't get a good player.

You think he couldn't salary dump Powell for something better than this during summer?

lol, this trade looks terrible on the surface, so im trying to make a theory why the blazers made that trade

my theory is that they liked what they saw from ant & little and are sure they are starters going forward, im guessing they also like nurk recent play and want to re-sign him and that leaves power forward and it looks like the time without dame, cj mccollum & powell really showed them something about how good the team looked on the floor (not in terms of talent of course, but rather much better fit, much more cohesive team)

Holy shit.

Just blow everything up. This is so bad.

Hahahahahahahaha.

At least we don't have to read posters saying give Cronin more time. Everyone sees this as awful. Fire him immediately.

Dame so loyal and Blazers keep messing it up. Just sad

Thanks for the info. I was posting when I first heard of the trade and had no idea what the salary implications were of the journeymen ... I mean players ... we acquired.
