Norm RoCo traded

LeVert has legit size for a SG/SF and a contract that is more manageable for a team team that might not want to commit to all the years Norm had.

Still a better deal than what the Blazers got, but I'm not blow away by the haul the Pacers received.

Lottery protected 1st that will probably be in the 20's since the Cavs are nice this season. Pacers also sent out a 2nd rounder in the deal.

We are all aware of the deal. LaVert has never played more than 50 games in a season....and that is what Indiana got back.

Basically malpractice from our front office and ownership.

I'm not sure if Norm is better or not, but for sure Levert is not significantly better, if at all, and he fetches back a 1st and two 2nd's

now, if LAC trade RoCo for a 1st, the progression is complete

worst player trade in Blazer history?
Drazen Petrovic for Walter Davis. That has to be near the top. A lot worse than this trade.

saw on another site that Cleveland is already talking about giving a LeVert and extension this summer
Not sure if that is true or not, but Hollinger also mentions that Levert is a better fit into Cleveland’s plans because he expires the same year as Kevin Love in 2023. This will give them flexibility into signing a max free agent before they have to extend Evan Mobley.

Then don't make the deal. It was an awful trade for us to make. The risk you take not making it a three way is you are stuck with Bledsoe and you just made the worst trade of the year.
This reminds me of one of my rules for stock trading; be patient; don't ever buy because you are afraid of missing out. A better opportunity almost always presents itself.

first off, as if Cleveland is a better destination for a max free agent than Portland

there is still the giant problem than LeVert's value was a 1st and two 2nd's. Cronin placed the value of Powell and RoCo as the pauper's return that Portland received. That's way to big a gap to be explained by circumstantial variables

Powell (especially) and Covington already helping the Clippers in their game against the Bucks.
I know Norman Powell is not a point guard but I wonder if Reggie Jackson feels a little bit threatened. his shooting efficiencies aren't very good. Not close to what Powell does. 33% on 3-pointers, eff% of 0.47, Compared to Powell shooting 40.6% on threes with a eff of 0.54.

does someone have their true shooting %? Powell is much better there too.

Edit: true shooting .593 for Powell (better than any of our guards) and .499 for Reggie Jackson.

those are pretty poor numbers for Jackson for a team that thinks they're a contender.

Norm said he didn’t think he would be one of the guys that would be traded.

RoCo thought he would be traded to the Eastern Conference.

Do you think Cleveland is run by idiots too? Because they gave up alllll that for Lavert, one day after (supposedly) more talent was obtained for far less. So the Cavs who have arguably impressed more than anyone else in the NBA, and have been built very very well, just overpaid?

I think that trade was likely 95% done when the Portland trade was announced

Norman Powell had just bought a house in Portland before the trade to Clippers (yahoo.com)

That could be because not one person on this board actually is a GM of a NBA team and most only have a very vague idea about what they are talking about. Who here is on the phones with other GM's? Who here is actually making these kinds of decisions?

Yes, because leadership out of Portland/Oregon is doing a spectacular job in all arenas. Titles mean intelligence and savvy, I trust authority of all kinds, I am smart!

I'm surprised at the anger towards this trade. It's not like we just blew up a good team. Cap flexibility, a couple young talents. This helps the tanking process. The lower we drop in the standings the better.

the problem we have is this: you can get young players and future assets that won’t affect the ability to tank this year at all!

getting value doesn’t mean we can’t tank this year.

Stretch much?
What a spin we have here. Wondering where people come up with this stuff?

Hollinger is pretty irrelevant these days. I dont read any of his crap anymore
