If they're paying Turner 18, and Meyers little pony 11, paying 15 to Nurk is an absolute steal.

According to that article it’s a 2 + 1 contract. So I’m guessing there’s a player option on the third year. Would be a great deal especially when you consider how much Steven Adams got.

My bet is Nurk takes the QO and goes Full Unrestricted Free Agent after the Blazers trade Lillard this summer.

If Kyle O'Quinn only gets 4.5M, is Nurk worth 3 times that?

Sounds about right to me. Keeps him happy by slightly overpaying compared to this year's market. Locks him up for two years. Keeps him motivated by making the next two years "contract years". I'd be relieved if they make this deal and get it over with.

I think maybe some people didn't catch the green font, haha.

Young players tend to get paid for what a team hopes they can be someday.
Mid-20’s they get paid for who they are.
After that it’s mostly hoping they won’t drop off during that contract.
If this is true it’s the Blazers paying him what they think he’ll be.

Well, yes.

O'Quinn is 28, Nurk is 23 (soon to be 24). It'd be much wiser to invest in a younger and taller player, who is already putting up better #'s.
The only place where Nurkic's numbers are better is points, and that's simply because he shoots more often. O'Quinn is more efficient, and is equal/better everywhere else.

And I understand "investing in the younger player", but 3X as much per year, for a skillset that many argue is being mostly phased out?

Yeah, Nurk's a starter, and will continue to get better. O'Quinn is a nice backup, and what you see is what you get.

The advanced numbers aren't better. And I understand "investing in the younger player", but 3X as much per year, for a skillset that many argue is being mostly phased out?
What? The pick and roll, defense and rim protection are being phased out?

Thanks Obama Hillary

;)
