Yep! The process worked for Philly. It has worked elsewhere. Portland has seen it's share of awful injuries. Tanking is what it is. It has nothing to do with character, karma, or anything else. It's become a business model to add pieces to compete and become a potential contender. It's not just a rebuilding model anymore. Use it , or lose it. It's all about the plan.
Philly hasn't even been to the conference finals. So I would say all those year of losing, it didn't work.

This is ridiculous. Is there some saviour in the draft I’m unaware of? I cannot believe management is going to ask all these young players to keep playing hard as if the organization wants them to win games.

Players don't tank. Any player that agrees to throw a game is cancer. All of the players on the roster and can play are playing to win, not to get a draft pick. A bunch of the players currently available to play on the Blazers are either trying to earn a future spot on the roster or a payday.

Just cause I left out Dev of players did not mean anything cause it should be a given we see what we have in Johnson and others before the end of the season so we know who to keep and who maybe to use as trade chips. Also we need to let Dame's Cousin get some play before we have to break it to him his free ride is over . Now I know some will say he helped a little in one of the games but let's be honest he is a C minus at best NBA player who only has a job on an NBA roster cause of who he knows.

Blevins should see zero minutes the rest of the season and start looking into another career lol. Maybe they can put him in the video room or something.

Savior in the draft? No. But the pick is an asset that can be utilized to improve the team. If we can procure said asset while developing our youngsters, we should do so.
Taking a healthy and productive player out of your lineup for the rest of the year tells the team that the goal is now to lose games, not win them. That’s a terrible message to send your young players.

Could be a tanking move - but no foot injury is a joke with a player as big as Nurk. If they are truly determined to keep him and treat him as a building block, erring on the side of caution is a reasonable move.

giving them more minutes and opportunity is a terrible message? No one is telling them to lose games.

We absolutely cannot let some fleeting win streak influence the direction of the team. That’s how we got locked into mediocrity with the Turner, Harkless, Leonard and Crabbe deals that derailed 4 years of Dames prime. If this was Olshey, we would be signing veterans on the buyout market now…

Perfectly said, @B-Roy !

I see no way Nurk would agree to sit a month during a contract year unless this was a legit injury.
or they already agreed on a new contract and therefore, sitting nurk would help our tank

if he played through this since september and was playing best bball of his career, i dont believe for a second he couldnt play through it until the end of the season

even some doctor on woj tweet said nurk should seek second and third opinion, doctor new thats bs

I hate to agree with this guy - but when he's right he's right. Give the young guys a chance to earn a place in the team's future. What is gained by giving time to guys like Winslow who have had umpteen chances and repeatedly fallen short?

Call it what you like, the Blazer organization is effectively “throwing” the rest of the season.
Do you honestly believe that this Blazer team has the potential to make a serious playoff run if they go all out the rest of the way?

Unless they have indicated to his agent they are resigning him

I look at it like this: were not going anywhere this season, so if there’s a vet that isn’t fully fit, shut him down. Call it tanking or whatever you want, but the team isn’t throwing games. The players that are out there have something to prove. They’ll play hard and they’ll try to win.

I think he’s gonna start taking naps on the bench

This is not the situation Billups thought he would be in when he agreed to be the coach of the Blazers. It's all too easy to put the blame on the coach who failed to get this team to the playoffs after the previous coach did it for what... 8 or 9 years straight?

No. The plan is to use our draft picks in a trade for someone in the off-season.

absolutely NO WAY i think. He needs the reps and I think Chauncey wants him to work out all the kinks now.
OKC benched SGA last year. The only way to clinch the tank is to bench Simon. He’s already proven himself. Picks worth more than awards.
