Listen, it's obvious that he's a better player than Crabbe and Leonard, but it's also obvious that is nowhere near the level Portland fans wanted him to be. What's bad is that he will be a RFA at the end of the year and Olshey has to match every offer because he can't start the season with Collins in the starting lineup. Chances of overpaying him like we did with Crabbe and Leonard are very high.

I don't know why Portland fans overhype every player so much, but it's happened again with Nurkic.

What was clear to me even at the end of last year but it's now even more clear is that he has absolutely no touch, he has bricks instead of hands, right now he's shooting under 40% as a center!

He's huge and above average mobile for his size, good timing on the blocks, good instincts but he has also a lot of holes in his game.

Nurkic, same as Lillard, is guarantee of mediocrity, too good to make us lose games but not as good to take us to another level.

Literally has never showed up once when we win.

You do understand that no one takes you seriously, reads your posts, or gives you the benefit of the doubt because of this, right?

I give you as much hope and love for your life as I can, though. Go forth, my friend!

Nurkic has suffered from a lack of instruction and attention. The Blazers training and coaching staff spent a ton of time with Nurk this off season. Even traveling with him to Bosnia. The Nuggets didn't give him anywhere near this much attention.

Give it more than 5 games.

The only problem with Nurk is his foul trouble but he will learn how to do that with more experience and he only 23 and started playing later the most basketball players.

The thing is this: Nurk looked awesome in his 20 games here. He reminded me of Sabonis. But for the rest of his career prior, he was not remarkable. So how do we know if that was just a hot stretch, or what to expect?

I think he's going to be, at the very least, a very solid starting center. But we don't know that we can expect him to be the all-star calibur player he looked like last year.

The OP has a valid point: that we may end up having to really over pay him.

This dude has me in support of limiting thread creation abilities... You should be able to get a chance when you join but stuff like this, twice in a day, should get those privileges revoked.

he was not used or developed properly in DEN, and you cant play like those 20 games if you cant be that good
he needs to develop his game, cut his TO, fouls and be consistent

will he be able to do that, I certainly hope so, I believe so, but the All-Star potential is there

since 2nd half that IND game hes improving his offense, but foul trouble didnt do him any good against NOP and LAC, and last night he was at pace for a 20/10-12 performance

We'll call it The JinxSpeed Ammendment.......

I don't see a hell of a lot of other players wanting to come here that we could give the money to instead.

He worked on his game all summer.

He worked on his body and conditioning all summer.

He has 100% the right attitude you want from your big man.

He's doing everything you would want from a player to be given a chance to earn a max contract.

Currently he's top 10 in the league in scoring and rebounding for centers.

In the NBA Top 10 centers get max contracts.

And he is only in his 3rd year at 23 years old. Still growing into his game.

Great point about his age! Forgot how young he is. You gotta think, teams hadn't had the chance to scout Nurk paying with our backcourt last season. Now, the other teams have an idea how to handle our big 3 maybe. He seems to have enough talent and basketball IQ that things will work themselves out. Nurk fever will return.
