Kind of takes the ring out of it doesn't it? Even though you originally spelled "You're" wrong.... Just sayin.

Great point about his age! Forgot how young he is. You gotta think, teams hadn't had the chance to scout Nurk paying with our backcourt last season. Now, the other teams have an idea how to handle our big 3 maybe. He seems to have enough talent and basketball IQ that things will work themselves out. Nurk fever will return.
Think what kind of player he will be in five years? That is what you have to see to appreciate what they have at this point. Then do the same with Lillard and CJ and Collins and Swanigan not to mention Vonleh. Takes time to create very good teams. No team ever knows they will win a championship. Just be in the running and let things play out.

The OP may be instigating, but I think it's fair to say Nurkic has underwhelmed this early season, relative to his sensational debut. That extends into the preseason as well. I really should have paid more attention to the team last year after his acquisition, because I can't precisely pinpoint the differences, but he just seemed more effective. Would make a good topic if someone more informed could break it down. Maybe the drop in weight is the difference. It just seemed more a sure thing, offensively, when he was close to the hoop last year. So far, he has an alarming number of shots affected for a man his size and with his skills. We're still a better team with him, but I think he's probably the linchpin to getting this team to the next level. The team has needed a reliable third scorer for awhile and he's our best hope.

Last two game he started well but the foul trouble made look like he not playing well on offense.

The thing is this: Nurk looked awesome in his 20 games here. He reminded me of Sabonis. But for the rest of his career prior, he was not remarkable. So how do we know if that was just a hot stretch, or what to expect?

I think he's going to be, at the very least, a very solid starting center. But we don't know that we can expect him to be the all-star calibur player he looked like last year.

The OP has a valid point: that we may end up having to really over pay him.
This. Agree he'll be solid at a minimum. However C is one of the positions in the NBA that is not at a premium and there are several good C's available in FA next summer, so IMO I am not too worried about an overpay - looked what happened to Nerlens Noel this last summer and Plumlee signed very late and apparently got no other offers. Only a handful of teams will have significant capspace as well so it will be interesting.

I am starting to think Nurk is being hurt by playing alongside Aminu. Nurk was highly effective playing next to a post up PF (Vonleh) with Nurk playing the high post and posting up when needed.

I would bet that Stotts wants to expand Nurk’s game and Nurk is struggling with that. I think he’ll pick up what Stotts wants, though. I am not panicking.

youre right on both conclusions and I agree with you

admittedly i was meth high on Nurk last year and had a lot of anticipation for how he'd go this year as there is a ton riding on it.
honestly, its been a bit on the underwhelming side thus far considering he looked fitter, healthier and lighter post the off-season work, but as of yet it hasnt really translated into a needle move or at worst, baseline of last year.
on the flipside, some time is needed for him to adjust to the changes needed in his game with his new options, but yeah, remains to be seen if old nurk was more effective due to his larger size and lane clogging'ness.

the op is taking this to the nth degree, but to me, it could blow out into a real thing, but we sure as hell aint there yet.

He's very good and definitely a tier above Crabbe and two above Meyers but I sort of understand the sentiments. He is not yet an elite level player (still young enough to become one) and treating it like it's a foregone conclusion that he is going to receive a max offer next year is silly considering he only had about two good months in his career. I think people are going to be surprised at how few players receive anywhere near max deals from other teams in the next two, three years. There are two centers that will be more coveted in the upcoming 2018 free agency - Cousins and Jordan (has early termination option and he will probably take it).

we should trade him while he still has some value
trade him for Nerlens Noel, hes like better player now with bigger uspide

or for Robin Lopez or Cody Zeller, but I dont think CHA would do it

thats from top of my head, theres another C we should look for

We are 3rd in the league in defense and 4th in offense......Nurk said he's making defense his focus and the offense will come....he's also trying to learn Stotts playbook....he'll be fine....turnovers from offensive fouls that have been questionable for the most part....some failed passes that didn't connect...I agree with Denny that he misses Vonleh's post play and help defense.

Another one of these thread by the same mentally challenged individual? We are 5 games into a season and you are already freaking out while getting mad at "fans" for calling you on your ridiculousness.

That's the silver lining of Nurk's struggles. Our payroll will be better.

This is pretty much it. COmbine the two of the bolded and there is the answer.
First, Nurk, knows and WANTS to be that third scorer, so he is pressing things around the rim.
But even more importantly, is the loss of Vonleh in the painty with him.
Aminu is just not a threat in the paint offensively or defensively.
The opponents D don't care about Aminu, so Nurk has had alot more body contact than he did last year.
He is still getting to the rim, but it seems he is rushing things because of this and it is causing him to miss way too many easy buckets.

If he made half of the layups he has missed so far this season, this thread wouldn't exist.
Give him time to adjust. He is young and eager. It will come. Vonleh back, a second legit body in the paint, will help him.

We are talking 5 games.
Preseason doesn't count because that is all about experimenting.
