The Knicks have talked to the Portland Trailblazers about acquiring one of Portland's first-round picks, a source confirms to ESPN. The Knicks have workouts scheduled with at least one player pegged for a mid to late first-round pick in UNC's Justin Jackson and are looking to acquire a second first-rounder to add to the pick they currently own - the No. 8 overall pick. Portland owns the 15th, 20th and 26th overall picks. The Knicks and Blazers discussions were first reported by the Sporting News.

I don't know the logistics, but Turner + 26 for O'Quinn. Get it done.

A lot of O'Quinn love on this board. Can the Knicks afford to give him up? Is the thought that they like Plumlee and Herangomez just as much? (Besides Noah)

Not if they want Justin Jackson. Otherwise, yes.

Meyers or Ezeli plus 26 for KOQ. Salaries don't exactly match on either so Knicks will have to throw a filler in.

Turner is hot garbage.

The problem I see, mostly because I haven't studied our cap situation, is if we move picks and some salary, would we still have money to spend? Moving asset to get nothing back is not a good plan.

Portland won't get significant cap space by moving contracts like Crabbe, Turner and Leonard. What they will get is space under the luxury tax line--since not paying the luxury tax for a (currently) non-contender seems like a fairly important priority for Allen, it's a big deal to get space under the luxury tax because next off-season Nurkic will, presumably, cost a ton.

The Knicks seem to have about $20M in cap space. They could easily do something like Crabbe and a 1st for KOQ, money-wise.

They're already paying Courtney Lee ~$12M to be their SG, though.

They do have enough depth at C to give up KOQ. On the other hand, they liked him enough to sign him as a FA (turned into S&T).

I guess I was looking at their old payroll. If they have that cap space then give them Leonard if they want the pick. Crabbe and a pick for KOQ doesn't actually improve our team.

KP is 21
KOQ is 27

The thinking is that they want to surround KP by players close to his age... especially in light of the team wanting to trade Carmelo. KOQ doesn't fit that.

Having a vet like KOQ helps them artificially win too many games, so if we trade them Biebs..

There really like Willy. O'Quinn only has 1 year left on his contract and doesn't fit their timeline either, so he'd be pretty easy to acquire imo.

I'd be willing to trade Turner + Noah for Lee + KOQ.

Lee has a decentish contract, and makes Crabbe expendable.

The Knicks will have cap space, they won't have to match incoming salary.

Excellent trade ideas.

I don't like the Harkless one. Who do you pick at 8 then? Isaac? I'm not sold on him and rumors of scouts claiming he's soft don't really sit well...

Isaac or Monk. I'd try hard to trade #15, #26, and Harkless and then try to trade #8 and #20 up to SAC at #5.

Monk? To do what, trade him? We don't have minutes for a small, stubby armed 2 that's not as good as Christian James. I'd rather have Mitchell. At least he'll play D.
