Makes sense...Harkless is a New Yorker, not a really defined style of game...can learn Phil's triangle...big question is what do we get back and can we throw in Meyers?

Hark + 15 for 8 seems fair.
There isn't a whole lot else on the Knicks that I would be especially enamored with. I can't believe they'd give up KP or Willy for Harkless...

However, I would advocate trading Crabbe or Turner for Lee + KOQ - but that is more about a salary dump.

I agree that Turner brings a LOT more to the table, but every advanced metric favors Crabbe (WS/48, BPM, VORP, Ortg) except for Drtg. Some by a large margin.
Bottom line is BOTH are hot garbage and need to be moved.

I think somebody in one of the other threads had an idea. I mean, what if Olshey got a no on his attempts to trade for George or Butler, or just decided it was too risky to trade for George. I have always thought Evan Turner was a Phil Jackson kind of player and somebody posted that above (although the link didn't match). So what about trading Turner, Harkless and Leonard (he also seems to be kind of a Phil Jackson player, although a poor-performing one) and the 15 for Anthony, O'Quinn and the #8?
Call me crazy but I can see New York doing that. They do not like to rebuild, this would be going younger but still being experienced. They would be receiving two good young veterans in exchange for a player they consider now a liability and for a backup center who isn't really needed.

Now, would Portland do it? If they think somebody will be available at #8 that they really love and who will help within two years, then I guess yes. They would save $6 million the first year and by acquiring two guys with one less year on their deals than the guys going out. How would Anthony do here? Does Olshey think Stotts is such a wizard that he could integrate him successfully?

good points....actually I think Melo is the perfect fit for Stotts system....he's Stott's Dirk basically...if you can get him to play team ball and be the player he is for team USA we'd be in the finals in the west all through Dame's prime.

Phil won with Luke Longley, Will Perdue and Bill Wennington...centers aren't really his thing unless Shaq is the objective there...Meyers like Mo Harkless would do whatever Phil wanted while his two scorers ball hogged away

Watch Melo. He holds the ball. It would be a disaster in our offense. Actually a disaster in today's NBA. Plus he would make Dame and CJ look like all defense performers

I guess in the sense that those guys weren't really considered "bangers" or guys who posted up a lot. Phil might have a big enough ego to think he could whisper in Myers' ear and make him into something.

Portland currently owns the Nos. 15, 20 and 26 picks in the June 22 draft and has spoken to every team in the league, “including the Knicks,” one league source said.

The Knicks own the No. 8 pick as well as two second-rounders.

The Blazers are interested in moving up in what is considered a very strong draft, especially at the top, while the Knicks have interest in acquiring additional picks to boost their rebuild, sources said. The two sides promised to “revisit” discussions as they move closer to the draft.

The discussions were first reported by The Sporting News and also confirmed by ESPN, although one source said The Sporting News report that Portland was interested in conveying a pick to dump a contract was “erroneous.”

The Sporting News reported Portland has “a projected salary of $133 million, which is $12 million over the league’s luxury-tax threshold. That puts the Blazers in line for $21 million in luxury tax payments.”

Yet the Blazers are not considering giving up a pick to incentivize moving a player’s salary and haven’t had those discussions with other teams, sources said.

Portland has built through the draft in the past and is “more than willing to add three more young players,” one source said.
