Lanny there is a huge difference between making a mistake and learning from it And making the same mistake over and over all the while refusing to listen to reason and breaking the law in the process. Then forcing others to pay for the clean up of the mess that was created.

With this mind set its kinda like saying kids can do anything cause they are kids. This mentality is part of the growing problem and downfall of society.
No accountability.
Coddling our young so the moment they face adversity, they expect someone else to dig them out of it because that is what they have always had.

To give love to our children is the most important thing we can do, but teaching responsibility and work ethic is a close second and it seems like we, as a society of families, stop after the first.

Post of the year.

Really? I wouldnt say that. Some republicans are for funding for family values education and birth control education.

Its about the direction i suppose. Both parties wNt the roght thing bit have to be so extreme in thier views that there is little compromise.

RepublicNs want sex education...as long as its abstinance only.

Some democrats want family funding in the form of welfare snd food stamps with little to no individual investigTion to where that money actually goes.

Both sides must give in a little if the government is to help families. Until then educate yourself. This world is different. Smaller. Anyone can find out what is going on just about anywhere now. If people want a political voice then the best way to be heard is to not be narrow minded. So be open to new perspectives, keep an open mind and most importantly, learn how to teach yourself.

Cant rely on government for something like this in my opinion. It has to start with the individual.
I just explained why it won't happen with the individual in a statistically significant sense.

I'm lucky in our community....the cops know all the homeless and teen dropouts by first name....talk to them and have weekly meeting at the library for them to air their grievances...they use diplomacy here...great guys who actually love the community they serve and told me those kids help them solve more crimes than anybody. They gain the trust of the castoffs ….many of these kids parents are playing video poker and drinking from the time the bar opens till it closes....the kids are in the streets without guidance.....cops help around here to give them some guidance. They are peace keepers.

I saw them, they are mostly kids.
If you are trying to convince us that a bunch of kids are doing the majority of this, you're going to have to produce some sort of evidence. It's an asinine assertion. People in their 20's and 30's are not 'kids'. You're just using an extremely loose definition of the word to try and justify their dumbass behavior.

You did?
I must have missed it. Ill go back and look forcit. I dont recall reading anything about why the individual cant enlighten themselves to be better than the ones that raised them.

Fake news. There's no H. Please pan your eyeballs 1 inch to the north for the correct spelling. Your lack of research negates all findings.

The only thing asinine is somebody calling someone else in here asinine. Ironic, isn't it.

This is a perfect example of quibbling.

You: "Cant rely on government for something like this in my opinion. It has to start with the individual."

Me: "Sure, you could blame all our problems on that. However, quality parenting requires that the parents had quality parenting or a substitute for it such as good schools and a good neighborhood. How many kids grow up to take after their parents? Most. You've got to break the cycle."

Note the part about schools, neighborhoods and breaking the cycle.

take someone to task for calling young folks kids and call yourself boy...double standard eh? and for the record....I don't pay much attention to how you spell your user name..I also don't give a shit about editing and proof reading posts on a msg board....I'm not getting paid to write posts here...I've been a writer for many decades....and I take that seriously...this is more like banter in a pub...not Shakespeare

I just think it's funny you've resorted to picking apart my username to try and prove your point, like it's some kind of defining characteristic I proudly uphold. You really got me there dude! I have the word 'boy' in my basketball fan forum username so I am therefore a TOTAL HYPOCRITE, and barred from commenting on the topic of immaturity. I also think it's funny that ever since you guys' last little whine fest you can't seem to take a joke. Now everything i say is some kind of vicious attack, with sexist and/or racial undertones attached. I now can't say anything on this forum without being taken to task by the good ol' boy club, i.e. you and lanny. I don't really care all that much I just find it odd/interesting that I can't post on this forum anymore without one of you cramming your two cents in my pocket. Is there a 'follow' feature I don't know about? Do you guys get an alert every time I post something? Your like vultures. Be the wise old fellers I know you are and just ignore me if I'm so distasteful.

People are going to take you at your word unless it's obvious you were kidding. Now that I know, I'm going to re-read your post and give it a new meaning.

I do not find you distasteful. That's a word that has the most negative connotation. I would say that it's more like misunderstanding you on my part. I'll try to be more careful.

Just got back from church where we were lectured on caring for our neighbor. Wonderful reminder on right and wrong. Do I care about you? Yes.

DOJ slams 'sanctuary' Philadelphia for giving 'free pass' to child rapist

Philadelphia blocking ICE from arrest database
The Trump administration is taking aim at Philadelphia’s political leaders for a string of crimes committed by immigrants the city released in defiance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement requests.

The Justice Department this week highlighted the case of child rapist Juan Ramon Vasquez, who just pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry.

The illegal immigrant from Honduras previously was in Philadelphia custody on local charges back in 2014. But when those charges were dropped a year later, city officials ignored an ICE detainer. Vasquez was later arrested and convicted for raping a child and unlawful sexual contact with a minor.

He is now serving between eight and 20 years in prison.

“The facts of this case highlight the danger posed by the City of Philadelphia’s decision to disregard ICE detainers and release previously deported aliens from local custody,” U.S. Attorney William McSwain said in a statement, accusing Philadelphia of giving Vasquez a “free pass.”

The Honduran previously had been deported from the U.S. in 2009, but returned.

"We owe the American people better. This is a perfect example of when jurisdictions decide not to cooperate with federal law enforcement, we put our communities at risk," Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Wednesday.

The Department of Justice pointed to video of Mayor Jim Kenney, who has served since 2016, doing a victory jig in June when a judge found in favor of the city in its fight with the Trump administration over sanctuary city policies.

“We are a sanctuary city, yeah!” he was taped singing before high-fiving with his chief of staff.

The White House at that time blasted the celebration as "disgusting."

“Many people in Philadelphia have been killed, raped or assaulted at the hands of criminal illegal aliens,” White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told Fox News. “It’s disgusting the mayor would dance in celebration of a lawless decision that allows these dangerous criminals to roam free in Philadelphia communities and prey on innocent families and children.”

Kenney pushed back against the latest controversy on Wednesday, saying that six times last year, the city handed over individuals requested by ICE, and they would do so as long as federal authorities got a warrant.

"If they had gotten a warrant we would have turned the person over, nothing of this would have happened," Kenney said, according to Fox 29.

But the administration notes that Vasquez is not a one-off case, but the latest in a long line of criminal immigrants who were released after ICE detainers were ignored by the City of Brotherly Love.

Officials pointed to at least seven other cases where alleged or convicted criminals were released, and in some cases went on to re-offend.

They gave the example of a 22-year-old Gambian man who was arrested for aggravated assault after allegedly attempting to force his girlfriend into a hot oven during a domestic dispute.

“An ICE detainer lodged with Philadelphia was not honored,” ICE said when it announced his arrest in March 2017.

Officials also cited the 2016 case of a Guatemalan national who was released from custody in Philadelphia after being convicted of two counts of illegal exposure and providing false ID to law enforcement.

Also in 2016, ICE officers arrested three criminal immigrants, two Mexicans and one Italian after they were released without detainers being honored by Philadelphia authorities. The men had convictions for crimes including aggravated assault, weapons offenses and narcotics manufacturing.

The fight with Philadelphia is part of a broader, national fight between the Trump administration and some Democratic officials who have advocated sanctuary city policies and even the abolition of ICE.

Is this about a single incident or is it about undocumented immigrants and crime in general?

Assuming it's about the alleged high crime rate among undocumented immigrants then maybe you should educate yourself on the subject. Knowing what your talking about is a big help in making an assertion.

Try this for starters -

Not knocking white men, just saying that minorities aren't all that bad.

The undocumented immigrants commit less violent crime than native born Americans.
